You should be able to solder the 4 small wires that lead to the motherboard for power & reset directly to the contacts inside the NES on the rear of the game controller socket.
If you have a volt meter with an ohms setting just connect it to the pins on the back of the socket and press buttons on the controller. You should be able to sort out which pins correspond to which buttons.
If you dont have a voltmeter you can use a small flashlight bulb and a battery with two wires taped to it to test the circuit. When the light comes on the circuit is complete try it on different pins with someone else pushing the buttons.
Then, if you wanna be really clever. Solder some extra wires from those pins to the corresponding pins on the other controller socket so it doesn't matter where your controller is plugged in, you still have power & reset.....Cool!
Ouch!
Pretty much. I found one in a pawn shop here in town, but they wanted $50 for it. I'm gonna check out the other shops and see if I can find anything. Plus with the move to a new state and settling in its been a little hard to get back to work.
I'm building a workbench right now too so I have a place to build on and someday I'll post the worklog but I haven't had time to get into it to much. Little work here little work there.
This one is still alive its just a matter of getting the supplies and parts together and a place to build again. I really don't want to use the computer desk again. To cramped and makes a mess in the computer room.
have you tried hitting up ebay?? here is soemof them i found http://search.product.ebay.com/Ninte...560371QQupvrZ2
ok folks. I've decided to go ahead here and start working on the internal of the computer and hope fully I don't screw the whole thing up. MUWHAHA!!!
Here we go. I decided to gut and old case I had laying around that i got from work, McD's was good for something after all. After i had the old motherboard, cards drives etc, etc I got to looking at it. I had an old mATX Dell MB that I could use as a template and looked over the system. I figure I might be able to bring in the case a little bit and pull the 3 NESs together a little more.
It has no idea what is in store next!
Heres the cut line. I think it use about 1" and quarter maybe less I'll measure to be sure.
Oh the humanity!! This went quicker then I thought it would.
This could take a few (4 reinforced and 5 regular cutting discs)
I still have the front and the back to cut off. Then the sanding and filing. Whew
More updates soon hopefully.
Not much to report. I got both NESs cut and fitted onto the inards of the case I'm using.
I just need to find the third then everything can really start coming together. I have a list of parts that I'm thinking of but since it will be some time before I can buy I'm going to wait till a little closer to completion before I post my thoughts on parts. (looking somewhere around Christmas:santa:)
alright its back up and running again! +rep!
looking good, where are you going to place the 3rd nes, right in the middle?
Yup. I'm thinking about putting a flash card reader behind the door. I have another thread out to get some power wiring help on the network hub I thought about putting behind the bottom door. Not to sure about the flash card reader though just because the system is only going to be for gaming.
lol if your still looking for more NES's, go to Japan. I saw a special on video games there a week ago and they had a shop with consoles ranging from the original atari to the famicom. Lol just saying, if you ever need any type of oldie console, fly there.
Hopefully you keep it going. Looks pretty sweet so far.
