Re: Project: Moditor
lol
after all that time i must of turned retarded because i went and bought velcro and contact because the contact i had was white not clear then i couldnt get the contact on with no bubles so mum did one side for me and will probably do the other side tomorrow
velcro is strong enough but i will but hdds on the floor not suspended and the cd rom velcro works as does the mb tray so all is well atm i only have 2 big jobs to go which are mounting the psu and building the I/O pannel suppoe\rt and a bunch of little jobs and all the home work i was ment to do throughout my holiday im not to bad a bit tired ill be fine buy tomorrow.

HDD hiders: make brackets (small job may get done this week)
velcro the HDDs to the bottom of the case(not at the top now)

Re: Project: Moditor
well i did plan to do some modding yesterday but this took up most of my day
on my soprano case
any way...
thought i might use this in a mod one day for a resivior
got these while in the states and thought i could use them for something got 7
the coin u see is a aussie 10cent or the size of a nickel
the momentary switches i got from the shop thanks to j-roc i know what im looking for in switches now im gunna order 2 that look the same but are single pole single throw dont look kool but ill be able to jazz them up and hide them well i hope....
-
Re: Project: Moditor
That would be a huge reservoir (top pic). No problem for helping with the switches. Anyone would have helped, i just happened to be on your msn at the time :)
-
Re: Project: Moditor

Re: Project: Moditor
ok i did some modding over the weekend heres what i have left to do
mb tray:
contact the other side(decided no to), drill the holes and tread them
mount psu (need it welded and then bolt on)
mount I/O pannel (big job)
mount screen (easy but must be done last)
HDD hiders: make brackets (done need to mount may work may not)
velcro the HDDs to the bottom of the case(not at the top now)
raise the back of cd rom and mount(may take a bit)
build the front cd rom guard (may take a bit)
mount switches (all bought need to mount)
ad fans
then paint and lights and stuff
so what did i do you ask?
bought the other buttons and got them wired up
i used one of my old old case buttons and cut the wires and fixed them to these switches
this part
i made this to hold them and turn out really bad ill make something else i tried another piece and broke it spirits down atm cuz that screwed up my plans for the buttons so now i dont know what im gunna do
went down to the shop bought this..
was ment to be for the front cd rom part but i didnt look at it good enough and it tapered and i looked at the high side thinking its just high enough....
used it for hdd brackets instead might not work tho
this is what i bought originaly for the Hdd hider brackets
a metre or right angle alumi..
found a better use for it.. cut into lengths and angled the sides for looks
what is it?
the psu brackets!!
then need to bend this at a right angle
thats done no more pics atm ned that welded and i need the HDD brackets mounted maybe this week just went back to school and its **** so might mod mod for a while...

ok so i took some progress pics for you guys to see what i have done
floor 1 and going up...
floor 2 and going up...
finnal floor
the 2 hdds fit like this also but i think they will get to hot..
i made the brackets for the hdd hiders they are strong now, still have to drill and mount and stuff slowly but steadily....
mb tray:
contact the other side(decided not to), drill the holes and tread them
mount psu (need it welded and then bolt on)
mount I/O pannel (big job)
mount screen (easy but must be done last)
HDD hiders: need to mount
velcro the HDDs to the bottom of the case
raise the back of cd rom and mount
build the front cd rom guard
mount switches (all bought need to mount/ make the alumi pannel this weekends job.)
ad fans
then paint and lights and stuff
so much homework at the moment so i might not do any modding this weekend but ill try
ttyl till then...

Re: Project: Moditor
Nice progress, you can really see where it is going now.
1 Question though. Will you attach the Velcro directly to the HDDs to mount? If so I recommend you mount the HDDs to a scrap piece of plexi, this will make removal of the unit easier and if you remove the Velcro you won't have sticky HDDs ;). This will also raise the HDD up of the floor a bit giving it better airflow therefore better cooling.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
hmmmm good thinking ill have to see what i can do as for the velcro i dont rly care if i leave it on later when i take it out
-

anywho ttyl
also does any1 follow this because it seems like only the boy from aus follows :( lol theres a face up early in this post thats not ment to be there
-
Re: Project: Moditor
Told ya PC Case Gear were quick, if they have what you need in stock lol.
By the way, that grill thing on the Arctic Cooling fan is actually on the front of the far. That design allows the fan to draw in much more air allowing it to run quieter.
Nice start of the HDD racks.

Re: Project: Moditor
Looking good man! I really like the setup of this case, can't wait to see how it goes all together.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
i'm following.
i like the idea... kinda like an iMac (no insult intended) :)
those AC fans are great. very quite. i think you'll like.
can't wait to see it coming together.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
Been following this thing for a while, like the concept. Finally put one of those old clunker monitors to good use. Hurry up and finish this so we can all gaze in awe at it's awesomeness.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
:P
i feel better lol one of those ccfl lights broke like the wire came out and it didnt work well from the start
picked it up and it fell out ffs!!
any who try to send iit back soon get a new one pissed off about this and ill probably get in sh*t at school but ill be ok lol (not for this lol) ttyl
-
Re: Project: Moditor
Unlucky mate. I just one of my CCFL cables by accident. Zip ties and tape worked great lol.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
yeah if they dont send a new one or replacer it ill try fix it
-
Re: Project: Moditor
If it actually fell out of the CCFL it will be a difficult fix. If the cable is broken it's easy.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
it fell our of the ccfl tube lol i got it riged so it works but for some reason it is only half as bright
the other one is living in my soprano case atm :P bright and pretty
-
Re: Project: Moditor
ok so u put the grills on the fans
lol one test the beast is alive this is just a small set up but i need to cut annd shut the wires soon
and the 12cm fan is on but my cams to good
-
Re: Project: Moditor
doesnt look like much of a post but it was very satisfying (cant spell)
got my fan
cut of the conector like you guys said
soldered it all up and heatsrinked (just extended)
then did the same for the 2 92mm fans(no pics)

so happy with that they all going at once...
i have 3 more soldering jobs on the way
solder the 3 fans to the 1 to 3 pin molex thingo i have
solder the switch onto this
and wire the switch fo my lights...
may do them tomorrow
also sanded the switch plate to shape have to get that done before i can solder the switches
and sanded the ends of the hdd brackets
got held up because the sheet of alumi i wanted was 80 bucks and dad said he can get some from work for free (fingers crossed its big enough)
ttyl
-
Re: Project: Moditor
Good to see the soldering turned out for you.
-
Re: Project: Moditor

-
Re: Project: Moditor
Sucks that you're out of funds and busy, don't give up. I have mods I started long ago I still plan on finishing eventually.
-
Re: Project: Moditor
yea man im trying to stay strong found out i can put like 2 92mm 3 80mms in top and 5 120mm over the whole case... got to work out how to wire 6 3 pin fans now.... dont wanna rewire them all.... ( got 4 fans wired...) may be able to get the 2 80mm with 4pin molexs on them make it alot easier then only 4 to wire....
-
Re: Project: Moditor
scratch that idea...
update time
blue ccfl light at the front probably final mounting spot
what the top will look like when done probably not as much glow
the new switch plate ffs final done
still a little bit off
the I/O pannel holder
red tape = cut red lines = cut
black line = bend
the HDD cooler i came up with thanx to boy from aus saying i think ur hdd will be hot... will be without this
decided on 1 hdd and held in by this thing
(remember it)
(top one)
switch plate is much better than the old one
next i have to cut those marked out things and do them then this
and the hdd hiders wish me luck
i was on fire at hockey on saturday did well for me :P ttyl
