Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Haven't received it yet, but last night I bought a Corsair HX1000 on ebay. The guy was trying to do single-wire sleeving on the ATX connector and broke off some of the pins. So, a little bit of time putting new pins on (and I think I might go ahead and single-sleeve it too), and I have a basically new HX1000 for $174 shipped. :D That's a good $60 off Newegg's price, just because the guy couldn't be bothered to learn how to crimp connectors. :P
...and, I just realized that since it's ~5cm longer than my TX750, I'm going to need to move my pump...ah well, it's time I made it a proper mount anyway.
-
Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Speaking of pumps, I just got myself one :D
An Eheim 1048, the watercooling setup is now complete.
Currently leak testing it with everything outside of the case except the water block which is mounted on the CPU.
34C idle and 54C under full load, both at stock clocks (i7 920 CPU).
Tried doing a rough overclock to 4,2 GHz but I got 95C under full load so I set it back :P.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
New G34 board came with a gouge through the second socket. Back to the drawing board.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Ewww... :( Are you going to be able to get your money back?

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Contacted the seller. It was photographed so as not to show the extent of the damage, so if not from the seller will resort to through Ebay.

That sux. That's why I only buy with paypal.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Thankfully, it was through paypal. Seller actually has another board I want (quad socket F) so I may just ask for a swap.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
My last major purchase came courtesy of my tax return. I got myself a:
42" LG 42PJ350 720p Plasma HDTV - I've no need for 1080p when our closest seat is 7ft from the TV.
Playstation 3 320GB with Move starter kit - The sports games for move are REALLY fun, and very realistic as far as the movements go. They also have multiple levels and achievements for each game, and they aren't anywhere near as stupid easy as the Wii sports. I also got Little Big Planet, a pink controller for the woman, another Move controller, and a really sweet dock for it all. I also got Netflix for now, and Dish Network HD in a couple of weeks ($200 Amazon gift card after signup since I purchased the TV through Amazon)
Another cool thing I got after Christmas was a memory foam mattress. It's made by a company called DynastyMattress, and for the last month me and the woman have loved it. This mattress directly compares with TempurPedic's $2500 memory foam bed.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
California hates big mean ol' "assault rifles." All semi-auto rifles have to have a bullet button and a ton of other crap requirements. :(
My last purchase was a XIM for my PS3. It's time to ownnnn.

bullet button?
you wanna know how stupid laws are here in Canada.
this is legal to carry around (unloaded, trigger locked)
semi auto belt fed (unlimited rounds as long as it's a fabric belt)
and yet this is restricted and can only be used at approved ranges...
(mine :))

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Ebay seller on my dual G34 board and I settled (rather happily) on a quad socket F as an exchange for the scarred board. I'm already halfway to filling it with what I have around the house.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
...I don't get it. What's the point of a bullet button? Just to make it take longer to reload?

lol, exactly. here in Banada any semi auto rifle is limited to 5 rounds per mag. and the only thing that stops the bad guy is a single rivet..... same with pistols, the limit is 10 rounds, so again a simple little rivet is all that needs to be removed.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Wow.
Now I feel SO safe.
Rather than design whole new guns, let's gimp it, and make it "harder" to cause bad things.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH....no

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
I'll keep my automatic .22 here, thanks.
Sometimes it's nice to live in the South.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
I Maryland the limit is 20 rounds. ..though, that's only for buy/sell/transfer/etc. IIRC there's no law saying you can't buy a larger magazine somewhere else and use it in MD. :D

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Some supplies to make my first knife-a preworked blade blank, spalted white ash (leftover from Mithril, natch) and brass pins, as well as bluing and files for filework on the tang. I know a fair bit about metalwork (worked in a bodyshop growing up) and with my failing right eye I'm doing what I can to enjoy the things I've wanted to do all my life. When we get home I'm building a forge to play with making my own damascus...
I won't say that I'm tired of PCs-I'm working on getting myself a quad-socket F system up and talking to itself, but it will be nice to work with something that will not be obsolete as soon as I put it down. I'm thinking about making the rest of my blackpowder supplies as well.
Benefits to living in the woods.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Heheh, so here's something fun I picked up last night. :D Only $125.
1982 Honda CM450E. Not in the best of shape...and there's no title...so I'm going to be taking care of that before I put another dime into it, juuust in case...but once you get past the basically shot seat cushion, every single light being broken (I'm sorry, most I could accept, but all of them? Was that really an accident? ), and a bunch of other stuff being dismantled, it doesn't actually look in bad shape. The engine, transmission, and carbs look physically fine (on the outside at least), the exhaust looks in good shape (so far) and there doesn't appear the be much rust on it. So, pull that stuff out, give it a good cleaning and a quick engine rebuild, and I think it'll run just fine. :D
What does the future hold for this bike? Well, some of it will be moving over the it's older, slightly smaller brother next to it under the cover (1980 CM400T), some of it will be going in the parts bin, but the rest of it.. Well, let's just say I'm going to be learning a lot about electric motor design over the next year or so.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
- Some black tactical pants for work from LAPG.
- Seidio Innocase II (awesome cellphone case FYI)
- Joye 510 kit
- 8 boxes of contacts. I'm surprised they allowed me to order -4.25's and -4.5's. My prescription is over a year old and it was -4 back then.
Also a new PS3 bluetooth courtesy of the new ebay seller who sold me one missing the ear hook... and special thanks to ebay for holding funds in his paypal account.

You don't have to live in the south:twisted:. All gun laws are screwed because the only people that follow them are law abiding citizens. Criminals could care less what gets passed into law but tend to avoid guns that go to full auto because they are two bit hoods not federal kingpins. Oh well maybe with this pending government shut down this country can make some progress in the right direction for once. My pending latest purchase will be my sons birthday present will definitely post here when its home.

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
20 sticks of ECC RDDR2 for my next project (most likely for the CM contest, but certainly for my own enjoyment.)
-
Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Ooh, so you MBB is one of those that has more than 4 slots per socket? Nice! Though 20 seems a bit odd...5 sticks per cpu..won't be able to run in dual-channel then..
-
Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
4 slots per CPU, 4 cpus to the board, a few sticks as spares.
-
Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread

Re: Your Latest Purchase Thread
Two things today..
This one's more fun, but it's not exactly a purchase, per-se, but it is new fun-ness. :D I got my winnings from the raffle. :D
Now for an actual purchase. I got this today. Well, and another one like it, but I forgot to take a picture before I moved it.
...unfortunately, there was a reason for this purchase... We had some nasty high winds on Friday..even knocked out my power from sometime on Friday until about noon on Saturday...and when I went outside to check the damage, I found this:
Got it fixed though, so it's all good now. :D Just got a different colored patch of shingles on my roof now...

I agree, it would be terrible only having 1/2 acre of land. :whistler: ;)
I do hope I'm never in a position where I have to fence in my whole property though..I don't like fences.
