Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Did a little window shopping online. I think I may have found some candidates for parts.
Rad/Res/Pump
TITAN BIANCA TWC-A05
Res/Pump
Koolance RP-1000
Rad
Corsair H70 (Aluminum though)
Pump
Thermaltake 12v DC Pump 3pin 72 L/ Hr. Both the same pump, just in/out moved

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Found where those mini pumps were from.
Think the cooler would be a good idea? This would leave only needing the block for the cpu/chp/gpu.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
That looks like a nice small pump
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Think this setup would be good enough for the heat source?
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
I can't see why not. Just make sure the fans get nice fresh air and life should be good.
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Thats what i'm thinking and by the size of the cooler pad, i don't think that should be an issue. It had decent reviews on the egg.
Might just do that and replace the hose and block.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
ordered copper ramsinks for the water block.
These will likely need to be cut to a different shape but will be mounted in the block to the copper plate. I will be replacing the sticky pad with AS Adhesive or epoxy.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Just wanted to throw a thanks out to TLHarrell for all his help with the acrylic questions I've had so far and hopefully helping me save a bit by picking up the acrylic and shipping to me.
Also, watching a couple AIO coolers. Hopefully soon I will at least have a cooling loop running.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Good deal. Can't wait to see this come together.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
You and me both lol. By the time this is finished, this laptop won't be worth using for anything and our other laptop will be out of warranty and I will have to watercool that one instead, lol
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Well, I won a cooler.
I should have one of these on their way in the next couple days

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
yeah. Was able to win it for 18bucks w/o shipping. which isn't bad.
I might try this with the stock block on it to see if it works as hoped. Maybe just be able to through some sinks on the gpu and call it a day. lol

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
YEY!!! Got the cooler today and just opened the box. This thing is actually bigger then the pics lead you to believe. lol
Any one interested for some pics, let me know.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
lol, and here I thought Aldersan would do more then lurk and be the one to post that, lol
"I will have an alsersan pic in a bit", lol
**updated**
I got some pics but it seems the cooler is either not new as stated or leaked before shipping (no mess in either box). The pump sounds like an electric razor as well.
I am using the laptop right now at 2.1Ghz with cpu at 49-55c with only copper block and water block. there is no pump/fan running right now over it. I have a copper block with copper ram hs and orginal cpu fan putting the gpu at 53c.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Ok, new day, new update
got some distilled water and topped the res off. BTW- what a PITA. It took me and my wife doing it with a 1/4" hose attached to port and a syringe. She filled the tube with some water and I had to blow it into the res until full....
BUT
After filling the res and turning it on, it made a world of a difference. Typing this now on the laptop its at 45-47c.
Guess what. tapping the case where the pump is kicked out a bunch of air and brought the temp down already to 41-43c. ooooooo 39-40c now!! hey, i think its working now, lol. I can actually feel the hose getting warm now. I'll get some pics in a few min.
**update**
literally only a couple min after click submit to this post, it started to sound like a razor again and shot out a crap load of bubbles. I'll have to get the res topped again. The temp is now down to 20c.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
I takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour to get all the air bubbles out. But if your tubes are going a weird way it will never get all the bubbles out. Pics would be great and someone might be able to help.
I had that problem yesterday watercooling my folding rig. I had to change where the tubing went and now its great.

Here is a screenshot of the cooler working.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
I know the issue. This is meant to sit upright not on its side. I had the exact same issue last night with a DD res. I have it on its side with the inlet and outlet on the same side. Air was getting sucked in when it shouldn't have. That slowed down my pump because it sensed the air and got super loud.
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
I don't think that is the issue. It is designed to cool a gpu and mount to a PCI slot. Per other pics and reviews I have seen, the res is suppose to be 99% full. It wasn't even close.
How it mounts:
How the laptop is right now.
**update***
I just checked it after about 45min ish of playback and its still only at 33c!

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Not being full is a thermaltake problem or do you fill it up? I'll take some pics tomorrow so you see what I mean.
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
It is suppose to come full. So definitely thermaltake issue or person/company who sold it to me. I'll watch for the pic. Thanks

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
small update.
I know, surprise but another delay. I have to wait til this weekend to get my dremel to cut out the bottom of the case. I had started with a hacksaw blade but it quickly became more hassle then it was worth. Especially since I cant turn the blade.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Ok... Its kinda hard to tell because I have it filled so much but hopefully you get the idea.
Here the 2 barbs are vertical. 1 on top of the other.
Almost no air gets in to the suction line.
Now if I turn it 90 degrees and the barbs are horizontal to each other...
My pump slows down because the suction line is getting tons of air into it.
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
You just need to bleed the air out for many many hours. Run it and try to work the air bubble out to the res. They should mostly get themselves out but can get stuck in low pressure pockets in the loop.
On another note, is the pump for the tidewater on the water block or in the PCI card thing?I'm trying to figure it out and I'm thinking the tidewater might be a good base for a NES PC liquid cooled system.
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Well the thing I wasn't able to sho is that if I drained out a bunch of water so that just the lower barb would be covered it would be better than if the barbs are side by side and only 1/2 the barb is under water.
Get it?
-
Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Thanks for the pics and I see what you mean.
The inlet/outlet aren't as close on this res and beside a small bubble at the top now, there shouldn't be any reason for air in the lines anymore (unless it starts to get low and I don't top off).
For the tide water, everything is in the enclosure. There is 2 barbs at the enclosure where the tubes attach that lead to the block. The block can be changed. It is using 1/4" barbs/tubes.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Good news / Bad news.
Bad news.
Can't find the dremel.
Good news.
Wife bought me a new one. Will hopefully have the bottom cut out by the end of this weekend. Today if i'm lucky.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
Update!
Still need to do:
Get psu for pump, external fan, accessories.
Build cooler pad.
Lap the copper blocks.
Some pics.
Possible HDD2 location?
GPU Ram sinks
Test fitting.
How it sits now underneath.

Re: Need a place to put thoughts for build
update.
Computer store I help out at had a 12v 2.5a psu he said I could have. This should be sufficient to run all the 12v accessories. Yey.. just tested and is currently running the fan/pump with only a .05v flux. With no load, it runs at 12.05v.
