I could never stand seeing the drive bay cage from the window.
Can you think of something I can put there to cover it up that'll look cool? I thought about making a dealer window sticker for the 1971 Dodge Charger SuperBee and put that there. What do you think?
you could go with a partial cage, for the cage...
like something that goes from the front inside of the case and wraps around just far enough to hide the cage, perhaps even detailing it to look like some sort of car inside thing :P
Dealer window sticker wouldn't look right. It would be cool, but I don't think it would flow at all with teh rest of the case.
You could just spell out "Mopar" in vynl and have it go down. You could still see the cage, but it wouldn't be as ugly.
You could make a small panel out of sheet metal or something and wrap it in interior vynil. Making it look like part of the interior of the car.
Also, find a good pic of the car from the side and see if anything catches your eye, then use it.
I like the vinyl idea, but make it look like the upholstry or floor mats, or the same green color and add the coil, battery and wiring to make it look like the engine compartment.
I think it looks great so far.
All you need is a peice of sheet metal to cover the bays painted the same colour as the case.
I kind of like the blue wiring. Some color wiring may be cool.
You could use wire sleeves

They would do the trick.
I need them quick. I'll probably go to autozone tomorrow.
i am definatly thinking of like a dashboard effect to hide the cage. gauges anyone?
The inside of the case is "under the hood" only.
That is a beautiful engine.
I tried plugging in the CPU fan, that has 4 pins to the place on the board that only has 3, but it won't fit here.
What's this 4 pin power for?
This cable comes from the floppy/media reader, but I don't know where to plug it in. The 4 pin jumper above doesn't say if it has data + or data -.
Here's 2 pics of what he proc will kind of look like with the engine cover on.
I painted the exposed drive bays black.
I'm gonna copy the look of an engine with this CAT 5 cable.
I cut it up and I'm going to try to find a way to make it look good there.
Lastly I made all the power connections and cleaned up the wiring. The IDE cables will be black.
..the 4th pin is for PWM, if supported.. usually, these connections cross-fit.. but that cap looks to close.. mechanically, u can't put.. modd-wise... u can ;)Quote:

should be said in the manual..Quote:

that's a usb cable.. u should plug it in one of the free headers on the mobo.. usually, they have the + marked on the mobo and the others align by themselves :)Quote:

Looking nice. Good idea with the CAT5 cables. If i were you though i'd cut one of them open and seal it around the wires from the front panel.

that 'M' fan grill needs to be fixed or made anew, can't have it crooked, if it's easier, make ito ut of plexi
Hmm a cool use of old cat 5 cable.
I would love to know how you are hidding this mod from your wife as stated in the first page.
About 1 week ago she found out and is happy that I'm doing the mod.

I've decided against the blue wires. It looked real stupid and untidy. With just a black cage it looks real clean and simple.
Yep, the black cleans it up quite nicely. Looks "finished" now.
That's looking really good TGS.
I bought a 10 inch UV cathode from AutoZone. These are brighter than ones made for PC's.
I got out a spare molex
Then I cut off the end and separated the 12V from the ground.
I did the same with the molex
Then soldered them together.
And it works!
So I put it in the case.
Next comes the engine/processor mod. I bought an 80mm blow hole funnel and a 120mm to 92mm fan adapter.
I slid one into the other....
And cut away the excess.
Then screwed it back to the heatsink.
Finally, I used silicone to bond the engine top to the structure.
sorry but red cable in molex is 5V
Yeah, I just figured that out too. I thought it seemed a little dimmer.
oh dear, looks good mate
Looking good, I like the lighting in the case, not too much, not too little...but just enough to create a brilliant effect for a briliant case
Here's the final pics. I did add a stripe to the bottom of the keyboard.
That's really sweet TGS. Good job. I really like how well the top and front panel compliment each other.
if you look at the cans in the picture u can see its mountain dew an a bawls drinkQuote:
