The riddle.

The first 2 lines rhyme, and the last two rhyme. The riddle is in front of you.

I think the tip off was that he posted it just after someone said "somebody should make up a riddle where the answer is a riddle"

Ah crap, I just remembered this riddle from long ago. lol dangit, stupid brain and its habit of collecting information and then relaying it to me when I least need it.

My pinpal from across the pond asked me this riddle. It stumped my entire english class. Too bad really, the postage must be killer on those letters!

The king wants to marry off his only daughter, so he announces that any prince who wants to win her hand must answer a simple riddle.

3 princes turn up to take the challenge. The king tells them: I'm going to put a hat on each of your heads. Each hat will be either black or white. If you see a white hat, raise your hand. The first one to tell me what colour hat they're wearing gets to marry the princess.

So he puts a white hat on all 3 princes' heads. All 3 princes raise their hands.

After a while, one prince says 'my hat is white'

How did he work it out?
