Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Hello everyone,
I have been building my own PC's since the 90's, but it has always been stock cases, with stock parts. 4 years ago I saw some nice mods, but again were put together from mostly kits. Now that it it is time again to overhaul my four year old PC I came across TBCS, and I have to say, "Dam!" You all are inspirational! You make cases that are centerpieces, not foot warmers under the desk.
The other thing I see is a brotherhood where no matter what background you come from you help each other in a mostly positive way.
Thanks for sharing you excellent visions.

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Hey all. I've been into computer's my whole life and several years ago I got sick and tired of buying store bought PC's, because of all the stuff on there that i didn't need/want so I built my first PC (in the agp era) It was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had, but the tempature warning alarm going off at the first start up pretty much freaked me out :) Turns out the heatsink on the cpu wasn't seated correctly. Anyway, Its time for an upgrade. MY previous mobo is agp only :\ I got all my parts (mostly) and just need to buy the final things. I took a look at everyones mod's and am very impressed, and just looking at the work logs, I learned a lot. I'm hoping to mod a case half as good as you guys. I'm not really big on tools but might be buying a dremel today. I look forward to lending any info I know or suggestions and look forwad to posting my progress. Thanks for having me :)

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Welcome aboard! Feel free to ask questions to anyone about pretty much anything.. we try to answer as much as we possibly can, and there are no stupid questions.. only stupid.. wait, I dont want to say stupid answers, but umm.. how about it's better to ask a question and look stupid than to break something simple and prove it..?
That sounds bad too..

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Hello everyone,
I joined TBCS because I like to make stuff. I have been modding stuff for a long time, since my first set of lego's I guess :)
I started modding computers about 5 years ago, but did not go farther then adding a window and top mounted fan to my crappy old case. About 6 months ago I got back into overclocking, and then water cooling, and then back into modding. I have not done anything to my computer but I made a water cooling box/stand for it I would like to show off. When I make some holes in the bottom of my case and the top of the stand then I suppose I will be modding. I am also starting a mod on my old case that I first put a window and fan in so many years ago. I will call it Mech Bay, and it will involve turning the computer into a water cooled hanger bay for my collection of mechwarrior and gundam models, when they are not out destroying the neighborhood
For now here are pics of my gaming rig and a mecha...
Thats how my rig was about 2 months ago, before some water cooling naughtiness and the stand I just made in the last few days. I will be making a worklog for its progress towards something a little more custom and special. I shall name the project "Esuriant", because it is...

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Woops, missed this thread before I started posting.
I'm Datech, right now I'm 19 years old and I'm a student at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, pursuing a Computer Engineering major. For the past few years I've just been into gaming and BYOPC, but soon I plan on starting a few case mods for family and friends.
Right now I'm working as an IT manager at a company of ~100 people. I like to see myself as a jack of all trades for the time being, as I have decent skills in a variety of different areas. Since my brother and I act as Tech Support for our family (as many of you probably do), and since I love creating things and using power tools (check out my hovercraft thread) I have really been itching to get into case modding.
Hopefully I'll be an addition to this forum, and get some good knowledge from other members too.
Thanks!

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Hello everyone. I am here under false pretences; I don't even own a computer (yet). I just like to have nice places in which to waste time, when I should be working. And lately I've developed a fascination with hardware, which naturally leads me to places like this. Bear with me if I make any terrible n00b mistakes - my last PC was a Commodore 64!

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Hello new guys... Im new here too (sort of) If you have any questions just ask.
LOL, I had a Commodore 64 too...

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
hello everyone, my name is Jason and I'm new here kinda, I've been browsing for about 2 weeks now, and I've finally built up enough courage to get my hands dirty. I have been working on PC's for about 8 years now, and I've gone threw tons of different rigs. Never once did I think of modding like this, I found this site by accident like a few others, and like them I am very glad I did. I'm currently working on Project: Sickness so watch my threads for updates daily. Thanks TBCS for giving me a new challenge!

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
Hi, I'm PCdeaf and yes, I'm really deaf lol. I'm currently trying to research on how to make a proper wooden case that can stores office supplies and look extremely business-like. Even though I'll be using it mostly for graphic design and gaming lol. It'll be a bit of a beast in term of sizes and non-PC features.
I'm having a bit of a difficulties trying to find info on wooden cases though. I'm currently learning how to use sketch-up and see if it is easier to use for basic mock-up than Blender3D (I'm a general beginner with modding, graphic design, and 3D modeling).
I had posted in the blenderartists.org forum about looking for a forum on modding that would talk about making a case from scratch here,
http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=142178
Hopefully I can get all of the planning done soon and have my money ready by then for the entire thing. I'm planning to buy components and build up the entire PC the same time I make the case since all I have is a laptop (HP Pavillion tx1499us).

Re: New Members Introductory Thread
welcome PC to TBCS, Good luck on the new comp. I noticed a bit of mis-information on the blenderartists thread you linked to.
You can very easily build a wooden case without fear od electromagnetic waves running rampant and wrecking nearby devices.
Here is a link to a nicely done comp inside a wooden desk
