Re: Somewhere to grind.....
This is a small updte but an update none the less with me being laidoff this comin week i should have some time to work on Man cave 2.0 even if i dont have the money lol
Here is some pegboard my father-in-Law donated to the project its is really
appreciated I will probably only be doing the pegboard on the front and back
walls .
With me anyway i find that i just pile stuff on top of stuff and cant find it anyway .
I cut these 1x2s into 10 inch strips to hold the pegboard away from the wall so i could use it
Then i screwed it to the wall
then i attach the pegboard to the 1x2 strips .
Here it is all hung up the roof of the right side is warped some thats why there is a gap there i can massage it some and make it fit a litle closer but i will put trim anyway just dont see the need really lol i have bigger things ahead i hope anyway .
Here is how i plan on doing the walls i had some scrap thought i would see how it looks i will paint the particleboard. I mean it is 7\16 think and its only $5.70 right now i csnt find anything that strong for that price . I hope to have
a more substancal update soon i if nothing happens .
I want to thank you guys for all the support and comments it really keeps me motivated . Btw all sugesstions and tips welcomed and appreciated

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
That would be awesome Carbon fiber rocks .Hope to have an update soon lol it was so cold i couldnt take many pictures the other night cold for here anyway after about 2 pictures the batteries would get cold i guess could go back in the house for about 30 minutes and they would work again update soon i hope if nothing happens

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Well here i am with another small to medium update since i learned yesterday that i am getting another week off lol .
Lucky me but i know its tough everywhere and i can work on the Man Cave 2.0 and some projects on the house . Also im blessed i can draw unemployment and the wife is still getting 40 enough about real life though .
Sorry i do this from time to time i ramble a bit but its helps to vent some i beleive .
On with the update
Here i finished the back wall running the 1x4's to attach the wall too .
Here i added plastic as a vapor barrier I do have a question i thought about because of moisture and there being real high humidty here i thought i might should use tar paper as a vapor barrier instead of plastic any opinions or suggestions.
Here i added particleboard to the bottom which is what the walls will be i will paint them the Man Cave will have a theme of sorts .
Here s the pegboard installed i put the paricle board up first to have some thing to rest the pegboard on i left a gap at the top because i have somethign to add to that later .
When i added the horizontal bracing in oak i beleive it will be plenty just in case i want to add a cabinet or something i want to add some supports this is how it was .
i cut these 1x4's for support to add some strength and palces to hang things .
I know that probably over board i put like what seemed like 200 screws in last night lol , but i figure better to be safe than sorry .
the right side i only went halfway down but i think i may go all the way to the floor i wont hang anything that low for sure but thought i might as well any thoughts i can get the wood free or really cheap any suggstion ?
Also i mentioned last update about massaging things into palce this the tool for that lol. Hope you all enjoy remeber all your support is part of what keeps me going along with my wife . Any and all suggestions tips and recommendations appreciated hope to have another update soon if nothing happens

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Wow...thats all I can say...
oh wait, I lied; the other thing I can say is that I am extremely jealous of you. I have a small corner in my basement :(.
I actually started following this thread early on, but somehow managed to miss all of the progress up until now. Congrats and +rep to the amazing work and front page feature.

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Congrats on the feature. When you're done, it needs some old school hotrod flames on the doors. Paint em black, and then airbrush the flames. Outline it with an electric blue pinstripe.

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
You know what else would look pimp on the side of that modshop? A nice big TBCS logo :)

Paul won't mind at all, hell it promotes the site doesn't it? As for the question of how, short of hand painting it on there maybe we will need to take suggestions. Any ideas folks?
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Front page WOOT! + rep Congrats man! a little progress here a little more there, pretty soon you'll have it "done". Well as done as most projects ever are anyway, if yours go anything like mine.
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
If you got access to an overhead (think the ELMO's back in highschool .... you younger guys may have never seen them but I'm sure Scope knows what I mean :) )
I can print a full color logo on a over head sheet and mail it too you...
Then just trace the logo onto the side and paint in the colors.... It's like making a big mural for those of us that can't draw big :) (me)

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Thats the thing that had the class bottom you but a picture or text on top and it projects it on the wall at giant size right lol that is going back i would have to look in to finding one good idea .
I also will look into the silk screening that may be espensive though . I will checkthough thanks for the ideas guys .

I think pretty much all of us have seen them. But now ELMO makes these ones with a camera that plug into a TV or projector. Some teachers at my school still use overheads. You can even buy them from the teacher direct catalog (my mom gets it).

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Scope that's The one!
Mind,
Most of the schools seem to have projectors tied to PC's now or "Smart Boards"
So I wasn't sure if the younger gen had used them before. Heck, most schools got rid of the chalkboards for "White boards".
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
They have white boards. But only a few smart boards in the whole school.
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
I found this thread the other day and have read it all. I asked my wife if I could makea Mancave like that and she said fine......if I move into it:eek:!!!!
Anyway you have a really cool project going on and can't to see it finished, then I might can convince the wife to let me get one:D
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
LoL good luck i hope to make it not quiet such an eyesore on the outside after i get the insidw squared away if nothing happens maybe then she will ok it
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
I have to say awesome work and I'm jealous. We live in an apartment so I don't have alot of workroom for stuff, just a small table and a couple nails to hang stuff from. Luckily my wife is very understanding about the dremel as long as it's not running once the kids are in bed.
But still, very awesome, if I ever get a house of my own I will have to try something like this myself.
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
That would be nice, we are upstaris and don't have a patio for me to work on sadly, we have a sunroom instead. But it has lots of windows I can open for ventilation and a fan to blow out of them.
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
Thats a start good luck hope to have an update pretty soon
-
Re: Somewhere to grind.....
I will have an update sooner than later i hope lol , I have put some 1X4 trim peices at each end of the man cave they are rough but that was the point i saw on a mod somwhere something similar to this cant remember where for the life of me but basically.
All of you guys here and at other places have really kept me going .I have got discouraged a lot as im sure we all have in the past basically i am offering anyone who wants to have there Name ,Handle ,clan tag whatever put on the 1x4 trim peices i will post pictures as soon as i can to give you a better idea iam going to try my hand at burning them in with a wood burner never done that so if you want you name on Man cave 2.0 let me know we can figure out a way to list it or just pm me what you want nothing Vulgar , or profane ,please no i want draw boobs eithier lol .

Re: Somewhere to grind.....
That's not a trench! That's just a small culvert. Break out the shovel and DIG boy!
(looks like you had some rain...)
Hehehe
Nice work! Glad this is still coming along.
