My Wallpaper

With linux, a lot of things are done with a terminal (think DOS box). It's possible to assign a background to the terminal

Here's mine:

Yeah, Linux is cool and all, but if I'm doing some sweet terminal action, I don't need half naked women in the background, thanks.

That being said, I keep a few apps fullscreen almost all the time, so I hardly see my wallpaper.

I personnaly have pics of babes in bikinis as my desktop and screen saver. I got them from www.wickedweasel.com and www.the-bikini.com - they are awesome

I think this changed from the "show your wall paper" thread to the "find the hottest girl you can, put a pic of her on your wall paper and show it" thread.

I can do that in OS X but i never really use the terminal because i don't know how. I just liked trying to make it pretty. I would usually turn on transparency and anti aliasing. But as i said, i cant use it so i stopped messing with it. I was trying to learn but i never really found a great resource geared towards newbs.

I'm running Ubuntu Dapper (upgrade from Breezy) and was quite impressed with what it came with...damn sight more than XP...

How to play a DVD in Linux? Don't be silly. Use your telly.

I think all linux distros have driver problems... but touch wood I seem to be OK this time, apart from my printer. And my DigiCam. Oh, and my scanner. :p

And I'm getting the hump with programs crashing with no discerable pattern, although XP did use to do it too... maybe it's hardware related...

But Linux is working w00t w00t my first (legal) free O/S!

Digicam ought to be ok. It should just show up as removable media, like a flash disk. Failing that, there is an app, gphoto which connects to various different cameras. Or, just use a card reader. Cheap as chips these days.
Printer, what is it?
Scanner, you might need to use a file from the windows driver. I can't remember exactly, but it's somewhere in the xsane manuals. Or the ubuntu forums, natch.

Printer is a Lexmark Z735, and I'll have a look for gphoto.

And take a squiz for scanner stuff on the forums.

My parents computer with a 19 inch 1024 x 768
My small CRT, same resolution
My Girlfriends 13 inch Macbook which is at 1280 x 800. Text looks a bit small sometimes.

I'd find room, if I could find the money.....

For those that don't know, I'm running dual 17-ers (A CRT and an LCD, great for graphic work and gaming) at 1280*1024 each.

i'm not running dual moniters becuase of desk space but how does it help to have 2 with gaming? what game are you playing that uses it?

The game only displays on the main (CRT) monitor, but while gaming, I can have Ventrilo, FireFox, and other applications open on the other monitor. It helps a lot because in Vent, a bunch of my guildies sound the same or I don't know them by their voices.

Haha, yeah. Before I had an R34 skyline pic I took at an event here in Pittsburgh. In fact, in the last car show season it pulled up into the car show; drove right into the show in Irwin. It was awesome. Right-hand drive, RB26; everything.

I was looking for a decent Cortana background because she looks amazing in the Halo 3 screenshots. I didn't find wallpaper-sized ones, so I managed to stretch it from a small png pic.
