I've been trying to figure that out... I don't think you can put them on backwards. My guess was someone lawn darted, or ran into something.
The front end you linked looks just like my 200S.
I dug my ATC out after sitting for well over a year. I thought I would test a cheesy camera I have to take video, and put together a sped up video. Worked pretty well, although I need to make a better stand system... Sitting it on a 1978 John Deere, and a floor hack handle doesn't cut it...
I gave up trying to get it running on film. After a broken pull cord, I did get it running. I took it for a ride, and it died right at the end of the driveway. This meant I had to push the 300lb pig up hill about a 1/4 mile. Haha... Guess that is what I get for being lazy and not cleaning the carb out...
Tomorrow I'll try and get the carb cleaned out. Although I have to start on a engine swap on a International with a 466, and a Saturn VUE needs brakes.
I've been pondering what to do for a rear hub on my ATC. I was sitting around, and had a moment of clarity. A front hub! It has built in brakes, wheel flange made on, and a perfect flat area of a sprocket flange to be welded on! Best part? I can buy a complete assembly for between $40-$60.
The idea is coming together...
ahah funny i stumbled upon this, i just spent the last two days rebuilding my thumpstar pit bike from the ground up :)
struggling with the rear brakes however.. thats the only thing i need help with so ill probably get help with that bit :)
either way, good work mate i finally realize how much fun you must be having :P
Get the brake worked out? I'm normally one to half-ass the brakes. Who needs to slow down? :bunny:
Having messed with these much as of late. Been riding the motorcycle, and working on my cold weather riding gear.
Having had moral issues with cutting a wheel off my ATC, I'm pondering maybe changing the build to keep it a three-wheeler. But still in the bobber/brat family.
Start by making a swing arm, and shock setup similar to this bike from TCU.
Everything else roughly the same. Sportster tank, etc.
