UPDATE TIME
alrighty.. as you know, ive been working away at my motherboard cover mold. i got the sore throat thing goin around and after i got better i decided to take a small break from that and focus on the back of the case a bit and get a lil practice with the fiberglass
but first...i made a lil friend the other night
this lil guy decided to come in and visit for a bit....
on with the update...
i made a flat sheet of fiber to cover the back..itll help in the future when i have a couple of other mods i need to do
i then cut it down to near size....ill sand/file it down the rest of the way when i get the rest of the cuts drawn and done
next thing i worked on today was cutting out the honeycomb on the rear 120mm fan
i didnt get a pic of the finished cuts ...but its all cleaned up
tomorrow ill try to get a full day towards this back panel
your thoughts?
thoughts...if that winged devil bat of an insect came into my work area he would of been blasted with a pump shotty.
Lookin good. I'll wait for tomorrows update to say more
UPDATE TIME
alrighty...i decided to take some time to update while bondo hardens...
today was more work on the back panel, taking it from the sheet of fiber to the final shape (roughly, still need to figure out placement for the PSU)
i laid down my basic outline for the back panel
then got to cutting
i knew it would be a lil trouble getting dimensions correct (so it looked right when mounted) so i cut it a lil oversized
i then followed up with mounting it to the back of the case and tracing out the fanhole and the edges of the IO ports etc
and all cut out..
i followed this with mounting it back to the case and taking my sanding drum on a dremel to the fan hole and a file to the edges along the ports..
after i got it all cut.. i laid some bondo, to even up the surface, there were some valleys in the resin of the fiberglass
and whil i had the bondo out, i went ahead and filled the mount holes for the original window
this is where im sitting with this mod as of now,
your thoughts?
Looking good still. I just used bondo for the first time today.... Dude its soo messy and where I put it makes it so hard to sand it... o well.
LOL that's one weird bug haha. Good to see you have done some more work. Looks great.
UPDATE TIME!
ok...this is just a bit of a small update... i painted my right panel and started polishing the paint...its about 99% of the way there...just gotta touchup a few spots and itll be done...not gonna say too much...so on with the pics!
this is where i am now....ive also done a little bit more on my back cover...ill post more pics of it when its done being sanded and i start painting
your thoughts?
WOW! Love that finish! What did you use to polish the paint?
