Heh. In this house (like most in the Philippines) they don't use an earth. My computer is earthed via the UPS, and I have a spare power lead for other equipment. I also have one for my laser printer, which isn't on the UPS and is connected to an ungrounded outlet.
One day, I was working on a computer and I put my ear to the drive to hear if it was spinning.
Guess which power lead it was running off...
i know.... bin there, done that $%#@&)*&^%@
Call me dumb but what are they?Quote:

I wouldn't feel too bad if you don't know. They are used in hospitals or doctors offices. Basically they go under a patient in, let say a hospital bed, to absorbe any bodily fluids that may be released.. whether it be from a surgical procedure or otherwise.Quote:

yes yes !!!
I'm guessing they're made of latex, Lol.Quote:

OvRiDe is correct!
Used for under the patient to keep natural spills to a minimum. :)
I'm not sure what they are called, I ripped off the clear package and put them in my garage storage unit. But ... you can get them at any hospital supply store, just ask for the bed protectors and they'll know what you mean.
As to the gloves ... nope, not latex like wingman and I thought. But they are disposal vinyl gloves, even thinner then latex I guess.
:)
Finally had some time to work on the Lamborghini ... started painting the
doors this week. But ... my brand new Iwata started spitting globs of paint.
I thought it was clean, so I cleaned it again (I have the cleaning kit), no
good, still spits out globs of paint. Cleaned it again ... no good again.
Contacted the place I bought it from and they said send it back. Great, but
that leaves me with a cheap $29.95 Badger ... won't do it!
So ... I ordered a new Paasche AND a new Iwata. Top of the line $300
setups (I like having backups :D ). I should get them Saturday or Monday
(did the 2nd day thing, but you know how they don't count weekends :( )
I already received the chrome trim for the windows (I also got regular black
trim in case I don't like the chrome look) And I'm already working on the back
of the case ... getting it ready (drilling the extra holes I need for my back of
case ... surprise.) Then I finally get to start on painting the pearl white
interior so I can start on all of my inside case mods.
I should have more pics ready this week. Also ... the booth works GREAT! I'll
have shots of that in action as well.
8)
Looking forward to it. :D
Received my new airbrushes so I started work again.
Inside exhaust filter seems to work good.
No paint is getting out of the booth.
On the exhaust ducting ... I didn't even notice it was insulated on the box.
Shot of it next to the AC duct ...
This ducting is better then the white duct that came with the AC, and holds
in the heat better, so, I think I'll cut a piece for the AC (I bought 25', so
plenty to go around) I think later on I'll even cut a piece for the dryer.
First door painted pearl red.
I'm going to paint the 'Candy Red' on the bottom where the giant ASUS logo
used to be. And blend it onto the pearl red.
I would like to blend the top piece with the hood scoop as well. Just have it
shaded to match (candy red running along the bottom of the scoop only)
Anyone know that procedure? It's already clear coated. Do I need to just re-
sand the clear coat off, or do I need to re-sand and start again? If I need to
re-sand the whole thing, I might skip it. :D
:)
I just loveee that pearl red dammnn
Well, I went and did it. I just went ahead and re-sanded the whole hood
scoop again. Then, I repainted it. LOTS of work, I can't believe I did that. :D
But, I want it the way I want it.;) And, I've been playing around with the
airbrushes, looking at some custom airbrush painting videos, and I have this
pattern down pretty good that I want to use.
And, I ordered, candy yellow, candy sunset, candy orange, candy brite red,
and more candy red.
This will be a blended line (on top of the pearl red, about 1.5" thick) that will
run the length of the bottom of the case doors, up the sides of the front,
and just under the bottom sides of the hood scoop. Kinda like a giant C. I'm
hoping this shading will give the whole case some depth and sense of
movement. Who knows:p
My lazy-sue arrived (real cheap one $7.95) with a crack in it running the
whole length and ready to split in half. So, I put some wood glue on it and
kept it. (ahhhh, quality work coming out of China these days  )
Works great now though. :)
:D
It's called a lazy susan.
Anywho, marvelous work! too bad it's taking so long; i want to see the finished prodouct!
keep it up!
MDCS Hows the humidity and airflow in the booth, when you are in there painting with the compressor on?
Well, since it's in my garage, and luckily I have it cooled this summer (or it would be about 120 in there - it's already 104-112 outside already).Quote:

I don't notice an increase in the booth.
And the airflow is good. I noticed the exhaust filter turned red on the very first spray with the brush (I mean one spray, not one job) :D And my respirator filters for the first time turned red as well. They never did when I was just spraying in the middle of the garage. It seems to be doing the job. None of the spray is getting into the garage. ;) Notice all the spray sticking to the walls on the filter shot. That would have gone all over the garage before. :D
And to Omega ... yes I know what it's called. Is it okay if I still call it a lazy-sue like I always have? As to the time ... yup, it's going to take awhile. I'm in no hurry to finish this. I want it done right, not fast.
BTW ... you'll see a big jump when I spray the candy paint. Which has to be clear coated soon after it's sprayed. So, I'll have the hood scoop, both doors, and the front piece painted pearl red and ready for the candy coat.
And that will be it (except for the rear, which is a surprise :) ) for the outside of the case. After they have dried, I'll add the chrome trim to the windows, put in the tinted plexi, and add the Lamborghini decals and name plate. :) :)

aaaanywho, i know the quality over speed thing.
Hmmm... very nice. I think I want one of those.... but I need something for very fine spray work... say art for example.... but I don't know anything about airbrushing.... that's the problem...
As long as you know mobo means motherboard, I'm fine with it. :rolleyes:Quote:

Just really depends on what you want to spend.
Since the front will be opened and closed all the time, I used the flexible
primer again for the front.
Front sanded and first 3 light coats of flexible primer.
And all the ASUS decals are gone! ;)
Once painted pearl red, that will mean the top, both doors, and front
will be ready for the candy, then clear coats.
Before I finish with the primer and paint it pearl red though, I need to drill the
hole for the video cam.
Lens comes off.
Where I want to put it. Front top (top is upside down in shot)
The problem.
The inside. No room for it.
I need some ideas on this one. I want to add the video cam to the top of the
case, but I can't fit it in where I want to put it. Which is dead center, top of
front. It's off about 1/16 from fitting. I thought maybe inside the hood scoop,
behind the mesh? Any suggestions?
The back.
Also, my new Dremel broke. Worked great for a couple of months ... oh well.
Wonder what the policy for returns on them are? I bought it from Home
Depot (still have receipt). Guess I'll try there first.
The collet snapped. So, now nothing can be tightened.
The missing collet.
:D
I was talking about the air brushing mainly. And since I'm in Australia.... I believe it may be slightly harder for me to find air brushes. And I know I would need to build the booth... find a place for it is a problem... but I'm hoping to move out of home soon. And I would want to spend enough to allow me to do some case work and painting of a few devices, so around AUD$300-500Quote:

You can pick up a new collet for a dollar or two at most hardware stores - I've seen them at Sears. Sears has the Craftsman line of rotary tools, but the parts are completely interchangeable.

I was thinking of where I put the tape?
Inside.
There is plenty of room under the black hinge.
So ... I'm thinking there, or in the scoop. For the scoop, I'd have to make a bigger hole in the mesh, and I'm not too keen on that. It may ruin the look.
What do you think?
I was thinking of adding a second one pointed at the inside ... but what good is that really? I could watch the memory lights move, the water move ... but that's silly. :D Maybe one behind each window (which are tinted) and one looking out the back :D 360* view of around the PC
:)
well.. try this: put the webcam behind the mesh, plug it in and see if the holes in the mesh are big enought so they dont get in the frame, if not dont make a biger hole(its gonna ****up the look of the hole thing); under the hinge... thats its a good point, a nother one would be to put it behind the window (quete from you ) but I dont know how you gonna place youre case in reference to you, what about the side vents you could put it there but at an angle so it points up and to the side a bit

Anyway ... compressor took a dive (a whole 3 months old) so I ordered a new one. Went from 40psi to 100psi and this one has a 2 gallon tank. This time I've set it up so it's outside the booth (I think that's what killed the first one, breathing just paint fumes). I've cut the holes and ran the hose in form just outside the booth. It should work and last longer this way.
I've already masked off the front and I'm getting ready to paint the pearl white in the bay area before I paint the pearl red front. Pics coming soon.
STILL trying to figure out where to put the cam.
:D
do you plan on using the front panel usb?
hmmm... you could mount the cam anywhere you want and have a mirror or prism in front of it.. or fibre optics.. that way, u could point it anywhere... don't know if this fits the theme, but this way you could install it anywhere and have exactly the view you want....
If I'm reading correct, there is some kind of hinge, right? Well... try putting the camera on a black 5.25" face plate and see how that goes.... just an idea though.
Some good ideas guys. I like this one the best. Maybe I'll see if I have room to put it on the speaker on fan controller bay device.Quote:

Masked & Primed ...
Painter pearl white ...
:D
This might be a daft question so here goes. Will You be able to move the cam around or will it be fixed? If its already been asked then just ignore me:)
