i don't see an OS listed in the price list
People still pay for os (sarcasm)? I would think XBMC would be a great standalone for an htpc and beyond that I thought most of us had student distros at this point anyway.
i forget that this is a younger crowd on here with that student distro action going on.
Im going to be putting windows 7 on it then using Boxee for the media
Been meaning to post this for a while. The server wasn't a purchase as it was excess stock and all I had to do was sign a form saying I would dispose of it responsibly when I was done. I did purchase the 2U wall mount bracket and the Sans Digital TowerRaid TR5M+B though. Finally have it running the copy of WHS 2011 I picked up from blueonblack a while back.
Specs:
Dell PowerEdge 1950 II
Dual socket, dual core Xeon 5150s @ 2.66GHz/core
8GB DDR2 667MHz ram (only 4GB installed atm)
2x 73GB 15K SAS hard drives on a PERC5i Raid card
External enclosure has 2x 250GB SATA2 WD drives in Raid 1, 2x 250GB SATA1 Maxtor drives in Raid 1, and a JBOD 1.5TB WD Green drive.
Nice dude! How much did that cost you?
The server was free since it was going to be disposed of. The wall mount and raid tower cost about $200 CDN as I got the tower on sale and the wall mount through connections with a tech supplier. The whole thing set me back less than $300 with the OS, though I did lose a few days figuring out how to set up the server since it needed major updates on pretty much everything.
What OS you going to use? I'm pretty good with server OS' so please shout if you need help.
It's currently running Windows Home Server 2011, though I had installed Server 2008 R2 for a bit while I comtemplated running WHS in Hyper-V. Once I figured out how to do the WHS install on a drive smaller than 160GB I switched because I didn't need the added features or complexity that 2008 brought.
This;
(ignore the messy wires- not done yet!)
70" 3D TV, full led array backlighting, 4 color pixels, wifi, blah blah...
yamaha rx-a1010 7.2 (+2) fully upconverting surround reciever,
pair of Peavey 215 concert stacks,
pair of Polk Audio 10" subs,
And various other things necessary for an amazing home theatre :D
Here is my 42" tv, for comparison;
umm, one is a 42" vizio, sitting on the ground in front of the shelves.
The other is a Sharp. soo... yeah....
Canon T3i and Canon 430 EXII speedlight flash. Probably gonna be adding a 75-300mm lens to the kit as well.

Honda C30 Magna.
Blown engine; ripe electric conversion. :D
Honda Sabre VF700S.
Needs a little carburettor loving, but otherwise fine.
Found it while I was looking for a roller for the conversion project. More than I wanted to pay for the roller, but I fell in love with it anyway. :D
this baby just showed up on my porch yesterday.

I just grabbed my first semi-professional camera, A LUMIX DMC-FZ47
It's first photo was this:
But more exciting for me is I got my first car, A 2002 PT Cruiser
I also grabbed a new audio deck and adapter plate, so I'll snap a picture of that when it goes in
i always thought the pt cruizers were neat retro cars. like little 40's style panel trucks. definitely a "usable" vehicle.
Yea, I always really liked the styling of them
any car that can fit 3 bikes and 3 passengers in it is pretty awesome in my book man.
And, with a few mods, the turbo version can boogie. ;)
