Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
I'm not "new" per se, but I went inactive for about a year after my interest sort of sputtered out temporarily. I actually have a reasonable shot at doing something soon-ish, though, so I decided to get back in. Haven't modded anything before, but I'm comfortable using tools and building computers, so I thought I should give it a shot.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
I was inspired by seeing the case mods that I had to jump in and be a part of this community. I don't have a great imagination, but There seems to b a lot of inspirational mods to give me a idea or two.
http://speedingcomputer.com/2007/11/...case-mods/---- this is the site I was at when I found your community. I would like to thank them and you for sharing your ideas. Jamie

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
My name is Bruce and I've been fooling with computers for roughly two decades. Caused some damage at first; delete *.* does delete everything. I've been building PC's since 2002 and have built many for family, friends and even my in-laws. It's my first post but I've been lurking here for over a year. Finally decided to join since I'm starting a project shortly.
I've done a couple of small case mods in the past. First one I did was cutting the Yankees NY symbol into a case, placing Plexiglas behind it and lighting the case up with blue cold cathode tubing. Second modded case was an Antec Aria, which I never finished due to a small fire inside the case. Oops. Long story short, sparks and paint thinner.
I'm sure I'll have questions and judging by what I've read I'm guessing you guys will have answers.
Cheers
Bruce

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hi folks,
Have enjoyed browsing the work logs over the past few weeks, I stumbled across the site whilst looking for images of interesting case mods and quality looking case mods, scratch built cases mainly for some inspiration.
After buying me some upgrades at christmas I had a spare PC, It has a Radeon X850XT ICEQ, pretty top end when bought a few years back. This card is UV reactive but even with a case window you could never get the benefit as the face of the card pointed to the floor. So, I decided I'd make a case to show the card being UV reactive. This led pretty quickly to deciding to have the motherboard lying flat but with the components underneath, with transparent perspex around 3 sides and the top. Another main requirement was portability but this is fast going out the window!
The computer parts all over the garage casued A parking problem (I love scrap and had 3 or 4 dismembered PC cases spread across the floor) so I modded the garage with a nice work bench at the end and a spot of rearranging. Now I have the basis of my workshop :)
Looking forward to getting a worklog going, just need to view some more sketchup tutorials and get a complete design down.
Nice site btw, hope this isn't too lengthy a first post, got carried away.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hey guys :D
I saw this forum site on google, after looking for a place for Case Modding tips. And well this site is AWESOME :lick:
I am 14years old. I have built two computers from scratch and upgraded another, and have good knowledge of computers - hardware & software related. I haven't done an major modding to my machine, just some blue LED fans and thats about it.
I have some unusual idea's for case mods, but sadly being underage to get a proper job - and not being able to get a job ANYWHERE () i never have money to fund my projects. But when i start earning (a year or so time from now) i will definetly start my projects.
So i will be posting my idea's and blue prints for my projects, on the forum.
Dan :D
(Personal Note - Need to save up money to get a good dremel )

Hey everybody,
My name is Travis. I've been modding for about 10 years. Built a Lego case when I was 12!! Not much in the last 3 years though. I just started a new project with my Thermaltake Armor+ 600LBWS case.
I have to say though I am pretty inspired by some of the mods posted on TBCS. Pretty awesome guys. Keep it up

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hi, all!
My name is Kevin...and I am from Victoria, Australia. I have been modding for a number of years now...and am a member of several other modding sites...but I thought I would try you guys out for a new (old...but "backbenched" for quite a while!) project I am working on. It will primarily consist of an Intel Server Board SDS2 (still like mucking around with PIII stuff...albeit I also have several P4's) and 2 clear-blue Flexiglow plexi cases that have been joined to make 1 larger server case...
More to come...in my build thread!
Looking forward to comments/opinoins/communications from other members...so feel free to post on my thread...or PM me...
Cheers!:alien:

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hey everyone. I'm a gamer that started to build computers for friends. Then started to get offered money to build them. Pretty cool. Could always use some extra money.
I started to get bored with just building and started to mod. I recently decided to start a small company to try to add to the gamers experience by supplying unique cases for people that couldn't do it themselves. Most of my work is painting theme cases. I stock a few cases but really like to build specific cases for the individual customer's interest (Kinda the American Chopper of Computers).
I'm looking forward to looking at some more of everyone's projects.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello all, look forward to my stay here at the best case scenario...
My main reason for joining is for modding an xbox 360 that was given to me for free. I would like to do many things, case wise and cooling wise.
This xbox will be one of the first things ive modded hardware wise, i have done countless jailbreaks on ipod touches and put custom firmware on a few psp's. I also have a ps3 with a 250 gig hd and running linux.
Anxious to learn here on the forums and put my 2 cents in where i can

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
"Hello altec it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?"
You ain't kidding! It says my last login was: 03-08-2006 at 02:48 AM. Wow!
Last time I was here I had little interest in a intellectual conversation, let alone good grammar, or anything past a one liner!
ANYWAY! I was looking on another site I frequent these days, and I remembered the Doom 3 case mod, and I thought to my self "What was the name of that site?." Didn't take long to remember, and I decided to see if my login still works.
This should be pretty good for me! I'm getting back into modding after having my power supply die in a very strange way. It was fun trouble shooting it! Just glad it didn't take my HDD's, and Motherboard with it like the last time that happened! :blivnk: That wasn't fun!
As a proper introduction. Name is Russell, most call me Spiny. Most of my tinkering these days is with machining. Mostly paintball markers. Gonna scrape some cash together for a new case for my computer, and work on a new case mod. Something simple, classy! My (Now) old computer is still holdin' strong for me!
AMD Athlon64 3200+
ATI X850 256Mb
ASUS A8V Deluxe (Used to be a Gigabyte board...)
Seagate 10Gb IDE (OS Drive)
Seagate 300Gb SATA-3 (Storage) (Used to be a Maxtor 250GB SATA)
Unmarked DVD-RW
1Gb Memory (Random sticks... Gotta change that)

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello!
Im a guy from Norway who has been modding for about 15 years. never documented much of it, but it all started with a Chieftec Dragon fulltower, and has evolved alot. ive buildt PC's out of anything. Now i've cooled down and gone the sensible way and got a simple case and kept it clean.
Ive been around here for a few years but never registered, dont know why actually.
My name is Marius, i have a fiancee and we're getting a baby son in september(cant wai!). Im a auto-painter by trade, but im lookig for something else right now. Im mostly into cars, and use all my spare time on my 1985 Honda CRX that im using for autoX.
anyways, im a nice guy with crazy things floating up my head :D

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hi guys!
New kid around here:D
After lots of troubles to join the forum I finally managed to activate an account, anyway....
This is my lil' story:
I've been lurking many sites with the purpose of building a new rig. My old and loyal PC, is pretty much on it's last legs, so...after holding myself for many months, Im getting ready to build a new PC.
Problem is, I live in Mexico city, and quite honestly, the hardware scene here is utter crap
We doesn't get the new/top hardware, the "last" top hardaware tends to be from a prior generation and at high prices; example: when the radeons 2900 series were being reviewed in many sites had a couple weeks of being out in e -tailers and the like, etc...here the "top" card was the 1900 series, and worst, when the 2900 were selling for no more than $400 here the 1900 was selling at $ 9850 PESOS!!!! to give you an idea back then that would ammount to 740 dollars!!! WTF!!! :dead: :?
And even when Newegg,Mwave and the likes had some nice offers....THEY DO NOT SELL TO MEXICO, so NAFTA, closeness etc etc were useless for me, damn it
Anyway, gladly enough, I contacted a guy that can get stuff from the US at reasonable prices. So Im moving towards the goal finally.
Now, I do want to ask to you, the expert modders, from some advice-comments-suggestions; so thats why i kept on trying to log in here.
Im sure many if not most of my questions may seem ignorant on the themes I'll be touching (aka watercooling and some moding works requested) hope you dont mind'em, Im really a newbie on such uncommon stuff as modding so, with that said, I'll start posting, hopefully in the right sub forums, if it isn't the case, my apologies:blivnk:
So here we go................
