I like it. What do you think? Dont mind the semi-circle on the last goove of the middle gooves. That was a mess up from earlier. This is only the template. I do the 4 other off this one.

Even tho i voted #3 or #4 that looks awsome what did you use to get those cuts?you used a dremely then just file it to perfection?
First post! un-surprisingly fitting because everytime i look at an update i get closer to deciding that quake 3 is going to have to stand aside to a new, growing love of modding.
dude, this is amazing work. period.
Real question is what do you do for a job, ie, is it something that relates to modding because you seem to have a feel for the tools you use and how they operate. Or then, how did you get started into this?
btw, thanks
@ sXenoG - this time I used a scroll saw. It was so much easier then using a dremel and filing away at whats left. The dremel is a very wild tool. It very hard to get close to the target line without cutting to much. So the cuts are very broad and to the point. Once you are done dremeling,.. you have to file away at whats left, which is usually alot. With the scroll saw its the other way around. You can cut right up on the line without any worries of cutting past the line in a instant. You can still cut past the line but if you are careful and tmae your time,... you can split the target line in half! seriously! The blades are paper thin! This means less filing, alot less.
@ seVerity - WELCOME BRO! Put down the Q3 and start moddin bro! Theres nothing comparible! I love it! I work at a hospital as a nurses aid. Nothing to do with power tools! LOL. It's funny,... I'll bring a small task to work with me so I can plan and prep for the next day and everyone is like WTF is that? LOL. If you have common sense you can do what I do. It's easy! How do you get into it? Easy,... just get into it! If you want it,... just do it. I swear once you start it will be very hard to stop. I'll be updating in minute. I'm at work now. As soon as I'm done doing what I got to do, I'll update.
note to self: must buy scroll saw.
Ok,... heres an update.
Got my mothers scroll saw,... which she will probably never see again. Sorry mom.
I went to Sears to get some blades for the saw and found these! There a larger version of the ones I have been using! I love these things! I bought several of them! I'll use these to polish my parts:)
I also went to home depot to get these:) Aluminum spacers. They will replace the washers I used with the cardboard version of the shields.
Here are the sides that I unbundled. Perfect.
Here they are mounted to the pumps. I did not make use of the spacers here. So the sides are close to the pumps then they will be. Look cool huh?
Heres the design scratched into the the template piece and colored over with a black crayon. Makes it easier to see the lines.
This one is for Mr. Boddaker,... this is right after the scroll saw. Any filing is minimal. Cleaning up burrs and some left over aluminum.
All filed down nice and clean.
I drilled a hole for each area that has to be cut out so I can get the blade through the aluminum to make the cut. I had to alter the blades a bit because they wouldnt fit in the holes. Heres what the blade looked like before. A bit off topic but I have to say this has to be one of the nicest pics I have taken throughout this project. Perfect lighting and clarity.
Here's the blade after.
Tomorrow I will finish up the sides and start designing the inner shields. Fun fun.
You should! You can get them cheap,... like $70? I'm keeping my mothers, LOL! You have to see how narrow the blades are!!! As thin as paper.Quote:

I was told today that I have to move my stuff out of the garage because my gurls mother wants park her new malibu maxx in the garage :x. A malibu maxx? Geez. Anyways,... I have to move all my stuff over to my mothers garage. Not a problem but still I dont want to go to mom house :(. Whatever,... on with the update.
Done scroll sawing one set and about ready to start the other.
These grooves are all filed out.
Heres the design for the inner shields. You guyz didnt tell me what you thought of this? Is it ok? I think it is.
Look at this mess! Damn.
In the sanding phase.
Check out that shine!!! It's not perfect but still very good. I might do some more buffing but I'm not sure. I want to try and get som emore of those scratches out.
I'm dirty as hell! Coal miner! I'm diesel too! Damn,... I'll kick yo ass!!! LOL.
The shield inner design looks absolutely amazing shouldnt change a thing on it. As for your her wanting to park her car in the garage... SHEESH dont they know you can rush art... And be realistic who would put a dang car b4 a hot modded out case :P
On a side not you look like a guy whod beat up people who were doing the things you do you kno like be all hardcore into computers and all :D Please take no offence to this none was meant lol :)
LOL! I tell everyone im a major computer nerd and they dont believe me:( Im a nerd PEOPLE!!! I think I wan tto polish up those shields some more. I want to wet send them a bit and then get a bigger buffing wheel. I think it will come out better. Till then,... now where did I put my pocket protector? Hmmmmm,...Quote:

insperational stuff mate... total respect :)
Thanks defyant. Coming from a pro,... I appreciate it that more:)
So I started working on the bike and I was like F#$% this. I started working on the puter. Yo,... you have to see what I did. LOL.
I wet saned the sides using 800 grit paper. I then took it to the table grinder and buff those mofo's with a 6" cloth wheel and rouge,... and this is what I got!
IS THIS CRAZY OR WHAT!!! CHECK THAT SHIZZOUT! You see my reflection? No? Just a little?
How about now? Better? HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA YEA! Thats what I call a shine baby!
I have to start filing the second set still:( I'll do that in the morning. I am also going to shine the reservoir bracket too. I am kinda hooked on this polishing thing now :-=-:.
WOW! Nice man! Realy nice look!
Do u have i pic of what you are using to get that nice shine?
Euuuuu AWWWWWW shiney lol great job on there. It amazes me how many different cool little properties metal has :D
As for thephreak99 google table grinder and you can get pics he tells you what he does use i think sines hes providing you with an awsome casemod you should atleast search urself :P
I'll take some pics for you,...Quote:

My little basin for wet sanding,...
Where I do my buffing. See the compond I am using. You need that. You cloth wheel will tear itself to pieces without it. Plus,... it wont buff at all.
See the silver color. Thats the compund mixed with aluminum dust.
Heres the sanding discs I was telling you about. 3 types,... coarse, medium, and fine. I just got done using the fine.
Whats left after using the fine disc. I will wet sand some of that and then buff the rest out.
Wet sanding,... dirty dirty.
ALL DONE! SO HOT!
See the reflection. so cool.
I am going to do the reservoir bracket first thing in the morning. After that I will starting cutting out the inner shields. I was doing some thinking while working today and decided that i will also buff the aluminum front panels to a mirror shine too. This way it will do just that, act as a mirror so that the uv green panels will shine alot bright behind the tinted black. All the light from the front LEDs and Uv green panels will be reflected out the front of the case. I think it would be sweet!
nice!! that looks sweet
total devotion! love it and well worth the effort ..just when you think they could look any better :)
Thanks defyant:) I'm off to the garage now to start my second job, lol.Quote:

Update,............................... again. Check it out.
First,....BAAM! Instant,... new reservoir bracket! I didnt take pics of my doing it because after reading this entire log you should all know by know how I did do it. CHECK IT OUT!
What a pain it was polishing this thing. It was bending all over the place. Anyways,... I can see myself in it so I aint complaining.
Now,... originally it was that plain flat arm. I knew there was something that needed to be done at the time I finished making it intially but I was sure. I didnt wan tot cut anything out of it because it would weaken it. I decided that was a crock and start thinking. I wsa going to to cut out 4 total grooves but I didnt because it would look just like the clamp itself. I needed something different that would separate the arm from the clamp,......... so I only made two grooves, lol. Moving on. It looks sweet though right? Kinda like it was meant to look like that. Crappy pic though,... it's all dirty from touching it. Anyways.
Installed. HOT! I love it!
Friggin sweet! Gawd.
Ok,... so now thats done its time for the nner shields. This is my goal, as you already know.
Because the size of this piece doesnt have to be all that precise,... I'm just going to use the model to sketch out all the pieces on the aluminum I will cut.
Using my trusty scroll saw,... I cut right up on the line,.... which was actually something I didnt want do but at the same time I did. Heres why,... cutting right up on the line will save time when filing but when it comes time to sandwich them all together to be filed, what a pain! I couldnt line them up right because I was afraid one would be off and once done filing I would find a flat spot on one of the pieces because it never met the file. Tip,... cut close to the line but give yourself enough slack so you can sandwich them together reall quick without having to wrry about one being off.
Here are the pieces already sandwiched and I just got done filing the flat sides of the pieces. I'm checking to make sure I filed fairly straight, which I did,... of coarse >-|.
Heres all four pieces filed to their general shape.
Here I removed the bolts, and cleaned them up with a air grinder. This time I will draw on each piece and cut and file one at a time seeing its faster that way. Here kinda like what they will look like when bolted to the pumps. Except these pieces will be rounded, bent over a pipe. That goign to to be a pain! I see it now.
I quit a bit earlier then usual so I can sleep. Seeing that I am goignto draw on all 4 pieces I know that if I did that now I wouldnt get to cut any of them. So I'll take them to work with me and draw on them when I am not busy. So when I get home I can start cutting and filing first thing. I cant wait to bend these and shine them up. It's goign to look sweet with the lit up UV green accent pieces! Can't wait! PEACE!
Much too sick dude. I can see you love that polished look :P I do to it looks great. Im sure ur sick of hearing this but i cant wait till you're done with it its very very awsome :)
Tribal, if I didn't know better, I would swear those alum pieces were chrome plated. Aweome work, can't wait to see more!
how much more r u going to put into this project... i'm die'n to c the finished product
Nope,... no chrome. Just a good polishing. I use to do it all the time in machine shop a long time ago.Quote:

As some of you stated,... i am a perfectionist. It is definately a good thing but at times,... it can be bad. Sometimes I wish I could just settle,... but I can't. It's an illness. It's just that once I'm done doing something and it's perfect,... I get so excited over it that I have to do it again. I love that feeling to much and this is why I will always be a perfectionist. I am working on this thing almost everyday. Right now,... I am in the hardest stage of the project. After this stage,... it will be electronics, wiring, light fab work, adjusting, and configuring. This stage will be fairly quick. I am going to be skipping alot of my ideas I had planned. The reason being that I want this case to be upgradable. I dont want to make something so specific that if I was to upgrade, I would no longer be able to use it. Or is I was to make something that would keep me from being able to add more stuff to the puter. So,... I am definately goign to save time there. I'm think that it will be done soon. Keep your shorts on.
its cool, take ur time and make it look how u want it, its just the suspence is killin me, this is one of very few sites that i check daily and i always look forward to c ur updates. keep up the good work and don't let me force u to leave nething out.
Do u have an estimate on how much this mod has cost you? (thinking of it all together, tools, acryl, hardware+++)
Or maybe it is just best not to think about it? ;)
Ummm,... I lost track. I spent several thousand intially on all the computer harware including the monitor. Then I spent more on more computer hardware. I spent like 500+ for water cooling stuff. I got the VFD and accessories for like 300 something. The LCD was like 50, router kit was 100, 100 fro the UV green acrylic, 60 for the tinted. I spent alot on miscellaneous stuff too like wood, pipes, plumbing stuff for the rads, spacers, alot of nuts and bolts, aluminum rods and tubes, I got an orbital sanding, I got tons of sanding discs, LEDS, LED holders, clear coat,... theres alot. I really dont care that I spent that much. It was through a long period. It wasnt like I dropped all that money all at once. I can'/t even tell you how much though.Quote:

(And I've messed it up today and have to buy anotherone.. :p
@ sloth_99 - I am most likely goingto try something else. It's just that I want to be able to see through the bracket which means I would have to cut away any material. It's kinda hard because the grooves are narrow:( I thought about using some gasket maker which will end up a rubbery. I could smear it on nice and even and thin. Then once it dried,... just away the gooves.
@ Xbrid - Thanks.
@ thephreak99 - thats sucks! 50$ for 50 x 50cm? Damn. And you messed it up! DAAAAMN. You should practice on something cheaper first:)
Ok,... so I finished sketching the designs onto the inner shields. I'm about to go and cut them out now. Here are the pics,...
Scratched it on the pieces with a scalpel.
