this is looking pretty sweet. :)
indeed, looks awesome
This Is awesome!!! I would never have thought to use old mother boards!!
Well, there not motherboards, these are industrial PCB's. But old motherboards should be also very good.
Ok, After reviewed the critics, I decided to make three extra limbs for the rear legs.
Now there much more in proportion.
Last to do is to connect them to the chassis and then final testing.
Are they read/write arms from HDDs? lol. Excellent addition.
hee hee, I love "Frenkie-style"!
that came out really well.. nice work
That is a sweet idea that! I just stumbled upon this log and I have to say I am impressed.
Thanx guys, youre the best !
Ok ok last modification for the rear-legs; by combining two ideas of readers ( thank you for that! ) I made two sections, one thicker sandwich from circuitboard, plexie and circuitboard. And one thinner and smaller one with one circuitboard less.
To bring back the aluminium-look, I used a 3mm strip to hold it all together.
Looks nice with a little light behind it.
I glued the read-write heads to the legs and then sanded the whole smooth.
I just had to modify the large arms with more circuitboard, to get it more "in-sync", agreed?
Check Meijer Ad and Walgreens Ad.
With the EL-tapes on, in the light you dont see much of them...
...but in half-light it looks just as I expected it would.
Still have a hard time making pix in the dark, but this should give you an idea.
And the other side.
And front/top.
An overview with the flashlight.
This is the end of the work-log. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed making the case.
