Re: Fallout 2.1
@ The boy 4rm oz: That is correct its an Asus 8800GTX (it Coil whines even on the desktop but in Fallout3 or any 3d app. its really bad) I replaced it with an Asus 8800GTX which doesn't coil whine.
The first one didn't coil whine to bad in the beginning but it evolved to something really bad.
Any way some pictures of the original case I bought a wile back.

I have a day off tomorrow. ill be working on Fallout 2.1 for most of the day so I should make good progress tomorrow.
First up the side panels if I have extra time left ill be starting on the front.
While the current front panel reveals the DNA of the case. it wont be so for long. I will be squaring off the whole front to give it a more rugged look.
Yours Cheron.

Re: Fallout 2.1
oh man that makes the case look alot cooler for no real reason! lol
thats a cool comparison.

Re: Fallout 2.1
You really did do a lot of work on the case to transform it into the beat it is today. I love it.

Re: Fallout 2.1
I think I killed the MB again :( soo this is on hold again.
-
Re: Fallout 2.1
Killed it again? I jsut got my DFI LANParty board back, almost 2 months it was out :(. Have you tested each individual component? Have you checked your water blocks for shorts?
-
Re: Fallout 2.1
Water block shorts you might be on to something ill have to look into that.(but i think it was my own fault like the first time.
Anyway I came in to tell you all, that I still plan on finishing it. even if it does not work(yet). Ill be dropping in a lighter GFX card since temps are way to high over 60 under load(CPU). This new GFX card will be air cooled like the first GFX card. also ill add a small fan(or two if I have room) to the NB those temps did soar to over 50 just before it died. I think that was my problem.
Any advice on what GFX card must be single slot since the radiator sits just below it

Re: Fallout 2.1
9800GT? that is still an upgrade over the 8800GTX but they are fairly cheap or see if you can find an 8800GT, they are on par with the GTX.
Have you checked your pump? for temps to soar like that it may have stopped working, or there may be a blockage in the tubes or radiator. You loop should be able to handle your hardware just fine, especially with all that coolant you have.

Re: Fallout 2.1
true... but still those gfx and cpu temp have been like this since the 8800gtx so ill be dropping it and if you say the 9800gt or the 8800gt are better than the 8800GTX I think you haven't had a real chance to compare them. I have them all installed since I started this build.
But any how the pump works fine and NB temps are Air-cooled temps.
On the 9800gt part. I have one right here. sold the 8800GT unfortunately since it ran more stable but the 9800gt will do fine after I modified the heat sink of the NB to active cooling. (this will some how look real fallout I guess)
thanks for all your support.
Yours Cheron

Re: Fallout 2.1
The 8800GT can compete with the GTX, the 9800GT is basically a 8800GT with a die shrink, they are all very similar. The 8800GTX may score better in a benchmark but in gaming at lower resolutions the 8800GT is just as good and the 9800GT is better. The 8800GTX needs at least a 22" monitor to stretch it's legs. My brothers 8800GT can easily compete with my GTX.

Re: Fallout 2.1
That is good to hear since it will be hooked up to a 17" screen. I will be adding the 9800gt to the case mod since I still have it.
anyway thanks for the reply
your Cheron.
