Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello all. I'm completely brand new to modding, but interested on getting into it. I've begun the research stage of my modding career. I was introduced to your website by another member. I love the way this site is organized and am extremely impressed by the mods I have seen in the gallery page of this site. That's why I decided to join. Well that, and for the fact that Paul Capello has simply created some awesome mods. So when you want to learn something new, you've got to learn from the best. Well enough brown nosing for now. I look forward to someday posting my mod on this site, and comment on other's works of art. Take care.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello fellow modders!!! Names Joe and I have been wanting to mod a case for a long time but had other issues get in the way from military deployment to limited space in the apartment to my wife...I am sure lots of you out there understand my situation.
Any case, I'm moving this friday to my first home that me and the wifey are purchasing (condo) and the space there will definitely let me do what I've wanted for a long time now. So...within the next few weeks, I should have my own post up with what I am building. Again, pleasure being here and meeting you all!!!

Hi to everyone at TBCS.
I come from VietNam, a country still in the list of poor countries in the world.
In my country, there aren't conditions to create a beautiful product, there isn't fine tools, and tackles available air for modcase.
But i'm lucky boy,I have found TBCS forums.
TSBC since, I learned a lot. and I hope will soon have the product first hand their.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hey everyone. I found this site today while Googling for tips on manipulating acrylic for devious purposes. After several water cooling incidents (read: costly misadventures), I decided I'd had enough water cooling fun, and I'm in the works of bumping it up a notch. Water cooling isn't as cool as submerging everything in a tank of mineral oil...so that's where I stand today. I have designed a completely custom case on paper and as soon as I get 3DS Max up and running again I'll have a 3D model to help work out the inherent kinks in my plans.
It'll be my first time building a custom case but I know computer guts pretty well. With a bit more research I hope to be an instant pro-modder so I can sell-out and live the easy life...or maybe so I can just get this first project done.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello, I am new here as well as computer modding, but I am very interested in learning new things and passing knowledge on.
I was drawn to this forum , in particular, because the members seem older and more mature and intelligent.(not that there aren't any mature and intelligent 8 year old kids out there)
Right now I am concentrating on working with a store bought :( computer.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hi everyone. I'm Johan, a Swedish university student. I'm new to this forum, but not new to case building. I've also done a bit of overclocking.
My current project is almost finished - I've built a custom acrylic case (I'll post a few pics soon), and I have only the CPU and a case fan left to buy.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Alright, the nick's Nutman (real name: Mads Perschke) and I'm a danish modder.
Currently working on my 1st mod, which has been app. 1,5 years on its way now - due to some reeeeeaaaaaally bad planning and lots of changes during the process.
So, I apologize for the rather HUGE worklog I have posted here at TBCS (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/f...139#post257139) - it's absolutely ridiculous, but if you need something that's guaranteed to make you fall asleep, have a look!

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Welcome
Nice worklog, nutman.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Ralph, in Ohio.
Building a mythTV system to replace a Tivo that our local Time Warner cable system has made useless by moving analog channels to their 'digital tier'.
I'm dropping cable TV completely, since I watch mostly PBS and C-SPAN anyway.
Starting with components purchased in 2008:
- Antec NSK2480 mATX case (looks nice):)
- (Antex 'earthpower' supply blew out first week)
- AMD690GM-AM2 motherboard :)
- AMD 64x2 processor (dual-core, 512k L2 cache):glasses:
- ATI 3600-series PCI express video card [doesn't coexist with ATI motherboard card]
- Pinnacle HDTV PCI tuner card SHOULD work with Linux
- Antex VFD display (software works, but UI is poorly designed):(
Alternating between OS platforms:
Linux (Ubuntu 9, moving to a current Mythbuntu) :D
Windows XP SP3 (which broke two MIDI interface drivers when installed)

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello all, been wandering around this wonderful site you guys have here. Lots of impressive work going on here.
Been building my own rigs for about 8 years now but have never tackled a custom/modded case. My current comp is just about at its end, so i figure the next one I build should get a custom case. So i plan on doing a one for my current rig for some practice, then doing something a little more complicated when I build my next one.
Well i still got a lot of material to cover before I start asking ?'s so ill be around L8R

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hello all.
I have been visiting the main site for a while now, seeing the beautiful and innovative mods that you do here. I'm not a total noob to computers, but I'm more of an end user than anything else. And I'd like to change some of that.
I learn by lurking, so you may not see a lot of posts from me.
I have a tendency to use the search function on forums before I post anything.
I look forward to learning a lot more from all of you.
Thanks in advance.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
Hey all,
I joined the site a while back but never really posted anything because I was busy with studies & job hunting and forgot. Just remembered I had an account here so thought I'd pop back and join the community. (^_^)
I've been building computer systems for about 3 years, mainly for myself and family. Had a few plays around with hacking up a case or two but those never really went anywhere. I'm planning to get a bit more into modding though it may be difficult with a limited workspace... hopefully some people with have suggestions on how to work in semi-small spaces with noise restrictions. =D
Also need to find some good UK suppliers for parts.
It'll probably be a fair while before I start building a physical case mod, though I've started doing basic designs for my Hiper Osiris case in Google SketchUp.

Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
welcome andy! as for limited space, I used to use my dremel in the kitchen @ my old apartment and used a garbage can to catch all metal shavings. worked quite well! (the ex wife didnt like it too much, but she tolerated it. :P )
-
Re: TBCS New Members Introductory Thread
I think I'd probably get killed if I start doing work in the kitchen, I think I'd have just enough space in my office room for a small workstation though it might be a little cramped with all my computer bits scattered around.

Greetings to the Technochicken and slugbug!! Glad to have you aboard, don't mind the people in the white coats, they're mostly harmless.
Anything you need to know about... lots of stuff is here, believe me. Make use of the handy search bar to the right and if you can't find it there feel free to post questions. There are a LOT of skilled people here and you'll more than likely find out what you need to know.
