I am deciding to paint the original cables of my ST550EAG, its very nice worked out, doesn’t need the full mod, just a paint and molex replacement.

26.12.2006
Today i started the ST-550EAG MOD, and just realize their coolers are soft to replace, so i decide to replace de 92mm for a 120mm.
It was a hard work today, cutting with dremel and soffering with Dremel Router, but i learned something today and tomorow i'll work better. (i hope)

Breaking news... really !
Cooler i'll change.

Re: Water Alien Rebirth - From Brazil
31.12.2006 / 01.01.2007
I decided doing some tests with leds ligthing before going on with the project.
These rivets are for tests purpose only.
Seems the idea works
I was running up to do some soldering works when the UPS arrived, damn ! For one second i thought the CM WC had arrived, but was another Dremel I've bought to do engraving jobs(this one is diferent of mine because it start at 5000 rpm and goes to 35000, the other one i have goes from 10k rpm to 33k rpm)
Dark photos are not what i can do best...
Some news at the font modding... (still leaning to use the Dremel router, if anyone knows where i can find any kind of tutorial, please, tell me where)
Doing these borders results in a very nice finishing.
I reached out a very nice fit on this piece
Some hand sanding with 360, 600 and 1200 sands, respectivelly, to acomplish the final results...
Dust, dust2 and dust2007... :)
The concept:
Now i'll do a 120mm hole at center of the top and put an nice one cooler with leds on with. (i'm thinking put blue light inside to contrast with red lights an red UV reactives i'll use inside de case.
It's all for now, i'll put more soon...
Coments are very wellcome...
See you and happy new year for everybody !
Pedro Torres

Re: Water Alien Rebirth - From Brazil
Hi everyone,
I am working on a new font cover, because, i want to put a 120mm fan and the cover i've made do not have left enough space for it. (it's a very small font, i coudn't believe)
Look at that:
Alson, today i've ordered a CM Dual Storm fan for the VGA memory chipsets that will changed when the CM Aquagate-viva arrives.
I want thanks to all of you for the coments you've made, they're very wellcome and makes me very proud. This also lets me believe i am doing something nice here.

Thank you !
Today i got an item wich is essencial for this project, and will define some of the next steps and was what i was wainting for. It was delayed about 20 days by brazilian aduana services...
I consider it one of the bigger conquest to my project, because this is the most important reason i am doing the mod, to cool down the system and let it more stable, besides the beautifull look and fantastic performance of Zalman CNPS9700LED.
This cooler is very compact and many says it really works... bought it for a reasonable price but was hard to find it, so, i bought somehow at e-Bay and wait a lot 'till put my hands on it.
Some pictures:
Now, with theese CM WC in hands, i'll decide where to install it and will next it do some cuts in front panel and other parts of case.
I hope to rear some words of others owners of this WC, most of then, general tooks about it.
I found it absolutely amazing. Very well designed and finished, it is a small piece of art and technology, no doubts about... The only "to do" thing is, maybe, a lapping on block to add some shinny, what you folks think about it?!
Thank you for the coments, see you soon !
Pedro Torres.

Re: Water Alien Rebirth - From Brazil
Today i removed the foots that will be fixed with screws later and did some cuts behind the case to do a small widows that allow light to pass by.
While cutting, i got these 2 smal tanks models that will be used in some exterior textures details. I am wainting the airbrush arrive here to start painting some exterior parts.
The tanks:
Pieces:
Small window for light pass trought...
Cuted:
Some sanding to revel the cut imperfections.
After a hard sanding, this result:
As i spected the WC is small and will fit in that space left by HDs.
Tomorrow i'll do their cuts and for small ET instalation. Also, i'll start some fiberglass working...
Thank you for beeing here,
Pedro Torres.

Today updates:
After some sanding work...
Testing...
Plexi-glass work to back side window:
Cut and borders made with Dremel router:
After some sanding...
I don't liked the result, then, tomorrow i'll do it again.
Tomorrou i'll capture the ET form with fiberglass
Attempting Alfa 1.0
Capturing the ET oval face form:
I dit it 3 times and put all together with soft tape.
Exed...
Now is to put the polyester resin and fiberglass tocapture the ET face form
See you tomorrow
Pedro Torres.
Tomorrow i'll really start that fiberglass work i told before.
Thank you for beeing here !

Thank you Commando, casemoding is a very nice hobby i've start and i'm really loving to do it, but, every coments like this yours, makes me want do ever the best i can.
This was my first time with fiberglass and i learned a lot. I did this form capturing first because it doen't need best results, than, i made use of this moment to learn.
Thank you for your coment !
Today updates (A):
Finelly, some updates with fiberglass works, that i loved to working with:
Did all work over a plastic and used dispendeable materials, making thiks easy to clean up after ;)
More important of all that, the apropriate mask ;)
Touching test done, it's almost dry..
Removing the piece, next time i work with fiberglass i'll use only tape instead using alumin laminate paper 'cause it's very easy to remove:
As this is just for modeling the plexi-glass, i think it's enough, but, to for some detailed work, it is not apropriated. (first time i used fiberglass, what emotion... :D )
Quite enough (just cut the borders to be nice and it's done):
Thank you for beeing here.
Pedro Torres.

Thanks !
The next pictures i've worked on photopaint to let it lighter to load... :)
Just cutted the borders:
Cut on front panel where i'll place de little ET.
Getting ready to fix the leds on base hexagons
Seems i'll make some money tomorrow at afternoon to buy the thermal blower i need to do some plexi-glass and other plastics works.
See you later,

Thank you simon275,
Today i learned something else when tried to do a circular depression on foot bases, look:
I did this circular depression on hexagons to the leds lights go directly to the borders, increasing it's ligh efect.
Also, i got the airbrush, wich i'll use to paint the external textures.
Now, i am depending of thermal blower to start huges updates.
Today's some processed pictures (hope get ligther to load it):
S* happens... i've lost one of hexagons because used a wrong Dremel bit and solve this using correct tecnique, watch this:
One ready base to acomplish the leds:
The airbrush (it was the cheaper i've found, but, seems it will work just fine - at least, i've already crossed the fingers)
Thanks folks, i'll do an effort to get the thermal blower tomorrow to start a true job here.
See you,
Pedro Torres.

Again, great work.
Hello javafiend,
I think the router i have is easier to operate. It's easy to change the bits and is not fixed, so you can rotate it, instead rotatind the material you're working on it. (have i made myself clear?)
To cut the plexi i use the saw to do long cuts, because it's fast and do strait cuts. To do short cuts, i use the Dremel cut disk - the thin 409 piece, because it results in less dust, but, produces a toxic smoke, so i have to use a not confortable anti-organic mask.
This router, with the apropriate bit, can do fine works on plexi, wood, and a lot of materials, and you can define the deep of cut, for example, it's really an amazin stuff.
(*Dremel is not paying me to do this comercial :D) - yet !
Thank you for beeing here, hope i could help.
Some picts of a small update from today's work, including, the fabrication of 2 new hexagons that i've to cut again.
Did a finishing job on back side window and other sanding works, nothing relevant work today. Tomorrow will have some significant updates, i hope.. :)
This will result in a better fit of plexi-glass:
See you people,
Pedro Torres.

Yor coments are aways very wellcome, thank you !
I got today the light efect i was looking for. To show it better i've to do a small movie of hexagons and leds it in action.
That is a lot of light and is exactly what i want, to give the impression that the case is floating over lights, like a spacecraft...

Thank you, i am doing the best i can. And sometimes, i have to do one piece, 2-3 times 'till get the result i spect. But the great deal is the learning process and friendship you conquest, it's the amazing thing.
Thank you !
This Weekend, i started some things on front panel and did the font case (it's almost finished).
Really hard work sanding (hope win that simbol to hard work :P)
Results as expected, very nice:
Almost there, with motherboard screws to font don't touch plexi directly:
This was how i did the holes, but, i did it another time to get final shape:
Clorofórmio is really very easy to work, not so toxic as i imagine, and fix the plexi easly, fast and stronger, watch:
The back panel of font i told did it twice (final result):
The measurements was perfect, the fun fits very nice, about 3mm over the font components, really nice:
Tomorow i'll finish it.
See you and sorry about delay, i am a modder that become a lawer at free time :D

Done:
Disapointed with an anoying protuberance wich don't let's me close the front panel correctly, so, i did a hole another font, just more longer than first:
Keep the front panel and did all the rest again (waste a lot of expensive plexi)...

Thank you armadilloben. The nom medical use i think is this i did, using it to work as a soldering glue. What i really don't know is how toxic this thing really is, but, i bought it in a medical center store and had to fill a form with a lot of data about myself to register the buy.
The seller told me to use a mask becouse it's toxic. So i did it. On clorophomio recipient, also, have the information that the substance inside is toxical if in contact with eyes, skin or ingested, smelled, etecetera... So, i really protected myself because of those informations. Used a gas mask, work glasses and gloves.
I used it without any of the protection i told before (except mask and glasses) and have no problems touching it, nothing happens to my skin. But, it was an excepction.
Take care if you intend to use it. Really don't know what exactly is it's toxicity, but, is better it prevented than remedied, don't you think?
Thanks for your observation !

A clean and precise cut:
Borderes of plexi piece wictch will abrigate de swtiches mnptech.com sent to me and CM logo...

Keep going...

Piece as i left it some time ago, now it's fixed with epoxi and washed, tomorrow i'll do a finish job and sand it. Also will do a plexi panel and prepare to receive new ET reservoir... Maybe start CM WC mod also.
This today job seems easy, but, give-me a lot of work on detais of this piece. It's importanto to the project, because will carry on a lot of beautifull things, including the CM aquagate-viva reservoir ET, fans and a lot of lights.

Re: Water Alien Rebirth - From Brazil
The project is going faster now. This week i'll finish the front panel and do some paint and mounting works.
Today most updates:
To fill...
To cut...
To measurements and suport...
Plexi to front panel
Piece cuted and marked
Frontal panel works:
Screcth on V to makes easly de folding it...
To cut the groove
The roof will act with front panel, so i've to cut and do a small test. rs. before cutting the front panel...
After this cut i tested the idea and works, so, keep cuting the front panel...
It's expensive, must use all that...
Groove cuted, it works..
Tomorrow i'll do a finishing job on this, fits perfectly, loved it...
Tomorrow i'll finish this and do other things.
I am really tired, have not to say, started to soon today and don't stop until now.
See you tomorrow, i'm exausted... Today was a great day, did a lot of advances, tomorrow i'll do more... Hope !

Some work i did today is preparation to others.
This is how i intend to mount the Alien vs. Predator playset, over a iluminated black plaxi plate engraved... (wow)
This is the cut i'll use as the playset base:
As i intent to engrave over black paint, i did it today, to do the engraving job on next week, when the paint will be totaly dry to suport the work with minimal secondary damages.
Well, tomorrow i'll sand some pieces, so, i prepared some parts to do an one time job...
See you folks.
