Demission

Hello there!

First I'll introduce myself. I'm Sebastiaan and I'm 15 years old. I have only three year english now so SORRY for my english. Normally my first post is
verry long but that takes too much time to transalate so I'll only put in the neccesary.

This project has reached Update 21 on the other (dutch) forums. When I have been done with transalating an update, shaal I place it here. So on to the project!

First a little picture of my last mod :D

I made a couple designs for this mod. I had to chose one because I haven't got the money to built them all.

But it's isnt one of them :hehe: When there are more updates you will find out what is will be.

The hardware:

-CPU: C2D E6300 @ 3.2 Ghz
-Mobo: Gigabyte P965 DS-3
-Geheugen: PC 6400 DDR2 512 x 4
-GPU: Asus EN7950GT
-HD’s: 2 x 160 Gb Samsung Spinpoint
-Voeding: Coolermaster Igreen Power 430 watt

-Laing DDC 1T's x 2
-Alphacool NexXos XP for CPU
-Alphacool NexXos for GPU
-Alphacool NexXos for mobo

-ALu profiles (?) 1x1x1cm U Shape. A total of 18 meters.
-ALu plates. About 4 squaremeters.

UPDATE 3

Not much to tell. Just watch the pictures.

First i had been bussy with the mobo tray. I needed a voluntaire and I found one.

First of all the thing was too long.

After we treatend it with the grinder. The finish will be better , don't worry!

Then it must be attached in the main frame. This has been done with two simple profiles and some rivets.

Time for some 5.25'' bays. Again with some profiles.

The piece were they will be attached to.

Plop Plop and stuck!

Two little brackets were he will be supported.

And done incl. drive.

Same story for the PSU bracket.

Let see what we have accomplished.

With PSU and an old DVD-drive.

And another one. Don't worry about the PSU. It's improved later on.

I already made a setup for the 4x40 LCD.

This is the TFT which will be sitting in the front.

Next time I w'll go on with the frame. See you then :D

UPDATE 6

Hi there! I've won some fans with a competition.

Noctua's! I'm going to use the 120mm. In total there are comming 7 of them in the case. I really love those things.

Next step was the begining of some interesting on the right-side of the case. Most cases are just plain at that side and I don't like that. So i came up with something. Later on wil it be clear what these are.

That's ugly as ****! So I scrapped that and came up with a verry simple idea which will be shown later on.

Let's have a look at that TFT! It's opened with a special bit. Luckely I have some.

Aha! The 5 volt line.

Next up is the mobotray. It's verry sharp now. First I sanded it down but it's not perfect yet. So I took some wiring, cut it by half en presto.

UPDATE 7

Finally some interesting stuff! The plates have arrived. Let's see.

2 big parcel's. One with ''garbage'' on it which are some scrappieches. Always handy ;) Going to use them for some accents.

UPDATE 8

More plates! Both sides this time :)

Against the frame.

Looks a bit odd, right? Well I haven't finished them yet.

This is the shape it will be.

In the mean time I recieved a parcel!

What's inside?

And here they are wating for use.

There all Noctua NF S-12-800 fans. The whole thing is going to run without fans but they are handy for those hot summerdays and it just looks better with fans on a radiator. Actually there are comming 2 radiators in this case :D A 360 ánd a 480! More in the next post :)

Here we go again.

First some good tools. Nice saws for ALu and corners for the frame.

Also bouht some wheels. Not the most pretiest but they were cheap and you won't see them in the end.

The beginning of the 5.25'' bays. I make them out of some scrap ALu.

With plates. Don't worry about the scratches! Later on the thing will be sanded down. But it's not perfect, is it? So alter on I did them again.

Next up were those wheels. First I had to find out where they came.

On the corners. How original ;) Drwaing, but it went wrong. Luckely I finded out on time.

Done. It lies on the top of the case.

Because the wheels are about 2.5 cm high you'll get a gap of 2.5cm unter the case which isn't pretty. So I came up with something. I'm going to lower the case. Pimp my case!

How it comes. The plate were the wheels are going to be attached to is a few cm higher than the plate which forms the bottem (sorry for crappy explenation)

Toen moesten die plaatjes vast in het hoofdframe. Dus die moest ook op de operatietafel.

Next up: The sidepanels! First I had to mark them.

Done. Needs stil a bit of sanding.

Update 9

I began working on the sidepanel. First I had to made a little piece which helps me to make a nice circle. I haven't got a passer which can create a circle of 60cm ;)

This is the shape :D The thing in the middle is my sign for this case. It doesn't mean anything but I like it. Designed it myself.

Tape off the sides which prevents scratches.

I wiped those stripes away with some Thinner.

UPDATE 11

On the other fora were all those plates together an update so I have to jump to number 11 to get it alligned again.

This will be the airflow from the case. Red = HD's. There is only room for 5 but okay. Green are fans and blue = radiator.

Made a little helppiece again for some nice circle's.

Next up: HD mountings. This is the meaning.

A little step further. But in the end I didn't like that thing so it's removed.

Next up: Some sanding. Not to much though.

After a time of sanding.
Kinda brushed ;) Not the finished result though. The whole thing is going to be powdercoated so it all will be sanded down with water.

UPDATE 12

Well a bit late but I was on holiday so sorry for that. It's also a small one because I had to sand en fill a lot which takes a lot of time.

UPDATE 13

Some ''eye-candy''. Not really but you'll see what the project will be like.

The last piece of the puzzle arrived. The top :D

And now you now the shape. This is an old design of the case. Some things changed and some things are improved but you'll get the ''feeling'' ;)

The arows on the top have been changed. I also made an original fanguard which will be shown later (even the Dutch guys don't know yet what it is). The other side of the case is even more interesting. But more on that later. The logo which you can see through the window on those 5.25'' coverplates is also removed.

Next Update: Some real work :)

UPDATE 14
I've done a lot of platework but it isn't worth a picture. The proces: You'll take a plate,screw it on, mark it, treat it, screw it on again and you repeat that proces until every plate fits. Time-consuming work ;)

Luckely there are some things worth of taking a picture. This is the top.

Of course it's never good in one time.

A bit blurry but you can see that it needs some serious filling.

You'll see there's a lot of space. Bit there will be a lot of cabling in there. So i made this to cover them.

UPDATE 15

Not so exciting because I was ill. So I just did what I could.

I had to extend all the cabels from my PSU in my other mod which I didn't like. So that had to be different this time. I made an extension cable. But then you need a male-molex and I didn't have one. So I got my dremel and cut it off an old CD-drive.

Then I needed cables. An old PSU with a sticker: ''AMD K7 en Intel P4'' 125 watt.

Cut of the cables and solder them.

The result. Will be sleeved later on.

More interesting stuff you can find in a PSU. It's a stekker were I'm going to putt the waterpump on.

The ''feet'' which will cover the cables is also done.

The moboplate. You see a strip on the right. It was also on the left but I don't like them so I removed it.

Big improvement. Next up was the making of the backplate. I put the donor PSU in so I can draw it on the plate.

After treatment.

Here I made it stuck on the PSU with two simple screws. It gives an impression of how clean it will be.

UPDATE 16

Well, finally something what you like! I Hope at least ;) Let start.

I needed somehting which coners that nasty need on the back where the panel goes around (?) the moboplate. The things in the inside are for the PSU.

With. It's better don't you think? There will be an illuminated 6mm plexie strip under it so you get the net setup:

Next up was some plexie. I had laying around some pieces.

In the garage I found even more.

After some cutting in the rain.

Rougly done. But I decided to buy one piece so it's a little neater in the end.

Finally! This is the engine whcih will power some things in the case ;)

12 V and 2400 RPM. Way to fast. But I will solve that problem. Here's a little video with it.

To make some thing's clear: This will be the right side of the case.

Remember that these are old sketches. The plan has changed a bit so I won't explain completely what my intention is. Of course I will explain it later on.

Why all this fuss you may think? Because I'm always frustrated when beautifull mods don't have a modded right-panel. Or at least the panel were the window isn't. I think this is a lot better than a standard panel ;)

UPDATE 17

Not to many comments! Too bad but you can't stop me with that :clap:

I made a little housing for my motor.

First I made a little holder (?) from foam. It dampens it.

Then I made casing itself from scrap ALu that I had laying around.

A little bit of bending et voila.

Done. Needs some putty but it will come later on.

UPDATE 18 & 19

Hello again!

I don't like screws on mods so I 'll use inbusjes (do you call it like that in English?).

The case. It stands there when I'm not bussy modding it.

Something went wrong with the frame so I had te rebuild a few pieces.

UPDATE 20

For the first time you can get an impression of how it's going to look. I haven't screwed al the panels in place so don't worry if anything is out of allignment.

In here there isn't much space left too. Keep in mind that there will sit 2 drives, 2 resevoirs, the pump, an TFT , an LCD and a lot of wiring.

Next to my case at the moment. The King's Castle. If you are interessted I could post it to.

That's it for now. The rough shape is there. It takes really loads of time to finetune them. It is a milestone however. Finally it's looking a bit more at casemodding then casebuilding ;)

UPDATE 21

It toke a while but I was to lazy to transelate the thing so sorry for that. I'm still working on it although the progress is slowly. It has to be perfect and that takes a lot of time.

First I made the logo on the front. It's not done yet.

Next up is the underside. It was very bad. Watch the black stripes. It should be like that ;)

And after I treatend it :thumb:

New materials for the innerframe. Again some rivets. I already used 500 of them!

Next step was finetuning the logo.

With very small files for those little spots ;)

Thé tool of choice to create straight edges.

The residu from one plate after sanding. This was needed to let the plate fit the frame well. I made all the plates 2mm too big so I could correct small things later. That's what I did on that moment.

UPDATE 22

Finally an update. It took me a while but I'll promise I'll go on the next couple of days.

I didn't get why the frame dind't fit very well. So I went looking:

I used a scrap-part for support. Never good.

Next were the 5.25'' bays. I needed a plate here.

Not bad :)

Suddenly it looks better.

At the back will be a few switches and power for the pump.

Made a plate for it.

Bussy with rebuilding the innerframe. There were a lot of old holes in it so I made a new one.

Next up was the front.

Not bad.

Back part rebuilded

More platework.

Not bad again.

Next up were some holes for fan-mounting. But I dind't had a good mal (mole?) so I adjusted an old fan for the new purpose ;)

Thanks guys! Glad you like it. I'm still very busy with it. Can assure you there will be some nice features. That's also the reason why it is so big. Mainly because it houses a 480 (4x12cm) radiator. At this moment I can cool it passive with that thing.

@Xperiment: I get a lot of practice. It's a total of 4m² ALu in total so yeah, you do get a feel for it after a while.

UPDATE 23

A big update this time. and an important one! Because there will be light. A very important feature for this case. hope you like it ;)

The package from China.

LED's :) 300 in total with some accesoires for it.

More toys.

Also more watercooling. But first I cleaned everything up a bit.

New blocks. I really like them because they are cheap, good quality and perform very well. the don't look bad either ;) Alphacool btw.

Old coolers.

Installing. Everything you'll need.

I first made the vid. ready.

Next was removing all the old tubing.

Done. the green tube is still old because I ran out of tubing. Doesn't matter.

Next up were the leds.

First plate. You'll find out alter, where all the lines are for.

These leds are 3 V each. So i put 4 of them in a row so I'll get 12v and then they get power from the PSU.

Dark room.

Although it is quite bright, it isn't overdone. Only the case lit up and that's what I want. With CCFL's you dont need other lamps anymore in your room. Also, the shiny ALu reflects a lot. I can assure you it is a lot more subtile when it is all black.

Next up was construction again. Some plates are good, others aren't. I replaced some bad plates because I want a good case.

They all go to a small central point where I'll can swithc them on/off later on.

That's it again. More next time. The ALu reflect loads of light and the cam picks it al up either so it looks very bright but in reality it is less.

What kind of LCD screen are you using? Is there some particular software you planning to use with it? My son and I are installing a Crystalfontz LCD in our mod. Frozen Sun.

I have always used LCD Smartie in the past. Not sure if your familiar with it, but its definitely worth a look.

LCD Studio is also great for writing aps. I use it for my Logitech G15.

I'm using LCD smartie and LCD Studio indeed. It works great. My graphic LCD doesn't work very well yet but thats because I can't find a good scheme. I had a 20x4 LCD but sold that one again. It worked briljantly though. Gonna buy another one ;)

UPDATE 24

Here we go again. Still a lot of ALu-work but I'm getting closer to plexie-work. Then it will be interesting!

First I made a fanguard for the top. I wanted it to be original so after a couple of crazy brainwaves I came up with this.

I had to make it all a bit more flat. I did this with a rbber hamer and some train-tracks!

Next up: A big plate which will be some sort of back-plate.

Disaster strikes! The fake-Dremel molted :(

A bit hard to see but the cooling-fan just melted to one big clomp of plastic!

So I had to improvise a bit. Well, the results aren't that bad I quess.

I need to be able to mount and unmount this plate because the mobotray is firmly attached with rivvets. But I can't slide it over the mobotray. It needed soms adjustmentes!

Because the Alu gets really hot when you are treating it, has it to be cooled. So on to the shower ;)

Done. Nice and straight.

Made 2 brackets so I can mount the back-plate.

Next up was the right side.

Drilled holes for some leds.

With a LTP-connector! Just that. The man from who I ordend it, deliverd the wrong connector. So he sended me the good one all the way from china. Good service, right?

And the last one!

The are thing you can put on the end of curtainrails. I'm going to use it for some reservoirs. But that's for the next time!

I realise it's a bit hard to get an idea from what it will be when it's finished but just keep following the updates and it will become clear ;)

Alu work looks great mate. Sucks about the fake Dremel, mine looks just like the except it's blue (Sontax). The other day mine overheated and wouldn't start, had to leave it for a few hours and come back to do the modding ;).
