Re: project: shock and aww
If you are going Vista I strongly recommend getting 4GB of RAM.
-
Re: project: shock and aww
o ok is there any reason y

Re: project: shock and aww
Well at idle my rig uses about 1.2GB of RAM leaving only 800MB for other utilities and games to use. I have had many of my games crash to desktop due to my rig running out of RAM. This isn't the OS fault though, it's mainly the way the game was coded. Take BF2 for example, when the game is running out of RAM to utilize it will dump the biggest running application, being the game itself. BF2142 is a lot worse for this issue. I intend to get another 2GB of RAM for my rig after my birthday in April. You will save yourself a lot of hassle and will help your OC better and will keep things running a lot smoother into the future.

Re: project: shock and aww
ok that sounds right it dose it a lot when i do lots of stuff but i thought it was me lol so i am glad it is not that and like idk but is there a way to over clock the cpu on an intel mobo cuz like i was told u cant and like when i went to the bios there is nothing any the even says cpu on it
-
Re: project: shock and aww
ok add a fan
took the stupied cover off that never worked right
and this is what it look like
-
Re: project: shock and aww
also thanks to the boy 4rm oz i am now going with 4g of ram insted of 2
-
Re: project: shock and aww
Good to hear. Um about the Intel OCing, yes you can do it. It depends on what grade mobo you are using. The 6*0 and 7*0i all have over clocking. Most new and old mobos have tweaking options, it just depends what you are looking on doing and how old the mobo is.
-
Re: project: shock and aww
well i think it is not to old like i just got it and like the cpu has been over clocked to about 3.6 so ya but the mother board it a intel classic i cant think of the num tho
-
Re: project: shock and aww
I'm pretty sure that it would have an advanced setting section that would have what you are looking for in it.
-
Re: project: shock and aww
Off to a good start! Definitely work on the cable management though, that will make or break a build right there.
As for the overclocking, what you are looking for may not be labelled as CPU or Overclock.. it's more likely listed as "frequency" or "front side bus" or something like that.
When you find it, start small.. raise it 5mhz or something, then save and exit, and go test/monitor your temperatures. The biggest mistake most people make when overclocking is just cranking it up until it crashes, then dialing it back a bit. Yes, it *might* be stable, but without proper testing and temerature monitoring, it might overheat and/or crash in the middle of something important. Fail.
Also, is the title meant to be "awww, cute" or "awe, as in frozen with amazement and fear" ?
Sorry, I'm a stickler for spelling.. I can correct it if you like. :)

Re: project: shock and aww
a little thing about the hdd...
go for a small raptor disk, like 74 gigs, and then buy a HUGE mofo for storage... that way you can have all your game files running fast on the raptor, and all installs, movies, music, pictures, and other stuff you wouldnt loose in case of a format c: on the storage drive :) and if the bad thing happenes you can format your C: drive withouth having to think of all the things you have on it that you dont wanna loose:D... and furthermore you wont have to split your drive in 2 partisitions etc:)... if your are going for the high end system do that:D

Re: Project: Shock and Awe
Do you have a theme to this mod, or do you want a generalized header image for your worklog?

Re: Project: Shock and Awe
If your going to spend 150$ on the 74 I would atleast consider the 150gb for 20$ more. Just partition it or whatever.
Raptor 150
Or if your only going with the OS on the disk just save the 50-70$ and go for the 36Gb Raptor
But for me, a 7200rpm drive works well enough. Im not really worried about an extra second to load a level or couple seconds to boot up, as the rig is running most of the day anyways.
To each his/her own.

Re: Project: Shock and Awe
ok sounds good i well do that
-
Re: Project: Shock and Awe
ok sorry guys about nothing new i am way to busy with school and am waiting on some one to get back with me on stuff
-
Re: Project: Shock and Awe
yeah go for the 36 gigs raptor:) though buy some cooler, and noice dampener if you want a quiet system.
-
Re: Project: Shock and Awe
I'm gonna get a 74gb Raptor and reinstall Vista and all my games and critical utilities on it. I'm also gonna get another 320GB HDD and run it with my old one in Raid 0.
-
Re: Project: Shock and Awe
well games and such would be a good idea to run on the raptor... just dont frag it all up and split into 2 or more partitions lol
-
Re: Project: Shock and Awe
I was thinking single partition anyway.
-
Re: Project: Shock and Awe
ya i want to get something that is like super good for games so i well go with i think 150gb raptor and the 500 gb hdd for like all my music and movies and stuff
-
