help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
HEy guys ive got..
a nForce 680i LT SLI with
a Zalman ZM-WB3 Gold
on an intel e6750 @ 2.6
2x2gig and 2X1gig = 6GB DDR2 800
Swiftek MCR220
with the thermaltake aquabay M5 setup
My question to the group is how far can i push this system comfortably and stable. what programs should i use if not CPUz and Speed fan that i have right now. and any other timing, ratio, or precaution info would be cool too. thanks team
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
Anyone out there With info even remotely helpful would be appreciated
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
If you haven't already do google searches on your parts to see what other people have done and how far they have gone with it. Might even get lucky and have someone with the same setup. Still, no 2 parts are the same, they will react differently to heat and voltages. If your mobo software is like mine, it has nvidia tuner software and hardware monitors. I would run multiple software to give you better idea since you will hear that some are better then other from a lot of people. Also remember, OC little at a time. Hope this falls into your "remotely helpful"
GL!
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
main thing when overclocking is watch voltages and temps. use coretemp to replace speedfan, speedfan doesn't give the real temps. when overclocking use the bios for the best results, but i think you knew that from your post.
for me 1.4volts and no more on the core of the cpu for a 24/7 overclock, it will reduce the lifespan, but even at 1.4 volts it will last 8 years or so.
i don't really mess with my ram and i wouldn't with your since you have 2x2 and 2x1 gb kits. even if there the same brands unless there sold as a pair then it will be harder for overclocking.
as for stability testing i would/do use Prime95 and OCCT. use OCCT first and run the 30 minute test, if it pass's that it will be 90% ish stable. use prime 95 over night (8 hours or more) and if it passes that then its 99%, i would say 100% but you can't say that when overclocking.
then for see score and things to that effect there is AquaMark 3D, 3Dmark01,02,05,06 , there is also Pc Mark and alot of others.

Thanks alot fellas much appreciated. and moores law for those that dont know predicts that processing power doubles every 24 months.

i think ill be happy with my cpu lasting that long. hell by then quad core should be the cheep cpu
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
ya, they (q6600) already dropped from 600 to 250, i got mine for 300.
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
i have not changed any settings yet but
my MB-N680-ILT9 (nforce 680i lt sli) motherboard stopped seeing my sata hard drives but can still see my sata dvd drive. i have....
Switched all cables around and the dvd works on all 6 channels
installed an IDE hard drive and it works but i cant write to it (tried suse 10.2)
installed a pci sata card and still cant see the drives.
ive been all over the internet and found XFX to be worthless and nvidia is dead to me now. the only thing i can think is to updates my bios and i cant find a floppy exe that i can do that with.
is there anything anyone can do to help me?
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
do the drives work in another pc? sounds like the drive might be dead if the pci sata card can't see it.
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
i cant run OCCT for an hour without blue screen. here are the temps
idle
load after 2 or 3 min
as you can see i havent overclocked anything yet this is all stock
just wondering if these are normal temps if anyone knows
how can i stop the blue screens? what should i check?
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
I have a 680i LT mobo (DFI), I haven't tried to overclock yet since my water cooling is in pieced with my case. I know for a fact though that the RAM I use can be OCd to twice it's speed. I want to see if I can firstly get my Q6600 to 3Ghz on air before I water cool then I want to see if it will hit 3.3-3.6Ghz under water. OCing really depends on the quality of your components, cooling gear and above all patience.
What Spawn has said is very true. CoreTemp is a great utility, if you use a Logitech G15 it will display the temps on the LCD screen. Prime95 is also a great utility, very helpful while trying to find a stable OC.
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
I just "acquired" Everest ultimate edition is it worth using?
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
i would be careful on how you say such things, downloading stuff + TBCS = ban. just letting you know before anything happens.
TB4O, i got the latest version of coretemp but it won't display on my g15, any ideas as to why?
also whats the VID on your quad, you should easily be able to get 3.0 with a G0 chip. as you know (i think) i have gotten 3.9GHz on air with a $30 cooler so you should be able to get at least 3.2GHz.
Re: help Oc nForce 680i LT SLI
VID? I dunno mate lol. I haven't tried to overclock it yet, perhaps this weekend. I am at school at the moment but when I get home I will check my core temp settings.
I just downloaded Everest Ultimate from their website, because I don't want to register, it stays as evaluation version.

My core temp is still basically stock Spawn. I have enable logging and start minimized checked and that's it, everything else is default. Have you enabled it in the Logitech LCD control panel? Start up core temp than open the control panel and make sure core temp is ticked. That way when ever you start core temp you can read the temps on the LCD.
