Project: Mustang GT350 Hertz Edition - Finished!!

I'll be doing two mods at once. The Cardinals SFF will be more long term, while this will be quick and easy.

This is going to be a simple mod for a friend who loved my Cuda 440 case and wanted something similiar for himself. The car I'm using as a reference is the Mustang GT350 Hertz Edition:

Black with Gold stripes

And here's the case I'm using:

Modtek ArmorX

Nice car... Bad rims :D
Cool side airintakes to mimic on the case.

I wish to have time and space to mod 2 cases at the same time, sometimes, even one...

Wot?! The stock mags are brilliant. Well, they'd look terrible on most anything else, but they work well here. I'd paint 'em to match the gold stripe, though.

This is gonna be good, TGS... watching for the groundbreaking ceremony, so to speak!

It's going to be a lot easier this time. When I finally get the case it'll be done in a couple weeks tops!

The case came

So I took the door off because I don't like it.

I taped it off right away

And painted the inside flat black

The gold stripes are next.

I measured out the top exhaust

Then comes the hood pins

And I decided to paint the drive bays

I put the bays back in

And then taped off the lines I need to paint

And did it in place

This is what it will look like when I'm done

I removed the tape. The far right is NOT messed up; that's the sticky stuff from the tape

The letters were $3

I put them on from right to left to make it line up just right

I still have the middle stripe to paint and then I'll repeat the whole process on the other side

I have access to a large assortment of vinyl and a vinyl plotter through Tuesday (hint, hint). Not sure if I have that exact color, though.

No biggie. I'll find some

I cut out the top exhaust

Then drilled the holes for the hood pins

Then cut the pins

And mixed up some JB Weld

And dropped the pins in

I decided to remove the pin striping. I'm going to use real pin striping that you buy for a car instead.

I added the black and gold pinstriping, but still need to get a 2 inch wide piece for the center

I was just about to say it needs pin stripes.

These might go with your case if your looking for grills (sorta car theme)

Just sort of look like they'd fit your theme to me. Even more so if you sprayed them down gold.

Nope, for a friend

So I ordered an adhesive sheet of gold vinyl and here's how it came. It has a dozen frickin' creases in it!

Luckily I was able to get enough of an edge off to apply it to the panels

You can try to get the creases out by blowing warm air from a hair dryer on it and rubbing it gentley with a clean soft cloth. Other than that looking good so far.

I cut the vinyl out into 1 1/2 inch wide strips.

As I applied the decal, I stretched it out to remove the creases

The window has these venting lines that are just too stupid looking and has to go

The pannel does have a nice feature though. The window is connected to the panel with little tabs. Just lift the tabs and it comes right out.

Then I used the old window to trace out a new one

Once cut, all I had to do was recreate the holes for the tabs

I'm still waiting on the hood sccoop and front Mustang emblem to arrive

Man an awesome car, a true classic, the case looks pretty interesting too. Looking great as always mate, excellent use of vinyl. +rep

The Mustang emblem arrived. It's with my phone for a size comparison

Then I painted the front mesh gold to match everything else

And mounted the emblem

Love the emblem, goes perfectly.

but i laugh at.. just move the tabs and it comes right out...

I had the same tabs on my NZXT side panel, I didn't really like em so I chopped em off lol.

The hood scoop arrived.

So I added the stripes and I'm finished!

Looks fantastic mate, very cool. One thing I would do I add the stainless steel cord to the hood pins, make it look more authentic.

The car it's based on doesn't have them either.
