Not bad, I'd destroy that from home. :)
I called Charter and asked why it's so low and they told me I probably needed the latest version of Java. So I went to the Java site and downloaded it.
They weren't kidding!
Somehow, I really don't think this is accurate.... I'm on a cable modem. LMAO
Yeah this isn't giving the right results at all...I'm on a data center's internet and it says I'm at dial-up speed?
f*ck that test
Have Java?
How much speed am I expected to lose via wifi? My laptop gets only about 1.7Mbps via wireless
Try the speedtest.net

Yep, that's about right. It's what I usually get when downloading anyways.

Got ya all beat lol...
Not bad considering I only pay for 10mb cable... 4.08Gbps internet - yeah baby
Slightly more realistic result....
One of the things to remember when using cable modems, is that some of the providers use "Power Boost" as they call it. What they are doing is they give you a very high download rate for the first 15-30 seconds of a transfer then neck it back down to your subscribed speed. They did this to improve performance when streaming video and music so that it could buffer a fair amount up front. It really plays havoc with speedtest since they usually don't transfer from more then 30 seconds at a time.
It doesn't happen often - I think most sites don't have the throughput to support it, but on the odd occasion I've downloaded huge files from places like MS, my connection will maintain 1MB/s for the duration of the download - I think my download of the Windows7RC was actually a little higher which is pretty much all you can ask of a 10Mb/s connection (remember B=8b so 10Mb has a theorhetical max of 1.25MB/s)... FTP support sucks on donkey genitalia, but other than that, I can't complain, I'm very happy with my service - and as I'm just about to slide out of the contract period, I can feel a free upgrade coming on - 20Mb is available in my area now (I think) *grin*
I'd love to have the connections some of you have.
What are you guys paying a month for those insane speeds? 50mbps+??!
 *wretches* yikes, and I thought US connections were asymmetric.....
That is one nice thing about OCx connections...they're symmetrical.
