Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
The Challenge:
Carve the best pumpkin you can and submit between now and Oct 28th. Only one entry per member, so make it count.
Entering:
All entries must be made by members registered on or before Oct. 8th. All entries should be made in this forum. A single entry may include multiple pumpkins if they are all of the same composition (one pumpkin eating another; every character from The Simpsons, but each on their own pumpkin).Feel free to post as many pictures as you want. All entries must be of real carved pumpkins, although how you choose to design, sculpt, or cut them is up to you.
Voting:
All votes must be made by members registered on or before Oct. 8th. To vote, send me a PM between Oct 29th, 12:00M and Oct 30th, 11:59PM. On Oct 31st, I will tally the votes and announce a winner in this thread.
The prize:
The winner will receive one Commell LV-670 mini-itx board with a 1.8Ghz P4 and 512mb of DDR ram. All entrants are likely to receive lots of positive rep, and at least one positive rep each from me. Slaveofconvention is also going to supply a 3.06Ghz Celeron that is compatible with the board, so this should be a pretty hefty (although dated) prize for the winner.

ohhhh tasty prize. I am in on this one.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
It's a bit used. I had to cut some bits off of it to make it work in the NES PC it was once in, but it works, and hey, it's free to the winner.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
ok here is my entry.
ok ok, it's not mine... my brother made it last year. so this isn't a real entry.

I'll also supply a 478pin 533fsb intel celeron 3.06Ghz to the winner - according to dstilgar the board will take 400/533fsb processors :)

When submitting the entries, please include either a picture of yourself with the pumpkin, or a piece of paper with your forum name next to the pumpkin (if you don't wanna show your ugly mug :D)

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I'll have to see if I can pick up a pumpkin and get in on this. I haven't carved one in forever.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I might have to get in on this, will see if my parents have any spare pumpkins from their garden. good contest idea! lol
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I do believe I'm going to be in on this one. I'll get my entry in real soon like.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I'm gonna try to be in on this one also, just depends on if I have time when I get back into town next week.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I am heading to a pumpkin farm this weekend. So I am confused. Is it 1 per entry or can we submit multiple pumpkins.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I got the impression it was one entry per person - if your entry contains multiple pumpkins that's ok, as long as they're part of a set - the example earlier was all of the simpsons characters, otherwise, I think it's one pumpkin.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
It's only one entry, but of one composition. I've seen pumpkins crushing other pumpkins in their mouth and stuff like that. If your single entry contains multiple pumpkins, then they will be judged together, so putting your my-little-pony pumpkin with your big-daddy will not make much sense.

Wow some great designs. You guys rock, anyway here's my submission nothing special. Of course i had to do Spawn lol

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Poison, would you be able to take another picture of the pumpkin with either your face, or a piece of paper with your forum name on it in the shot as well?

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Ahh, I might re-do a NVIDIA logo pumpkin this year!
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Got my pumpkins today. Now I need to pick my designs and carve them out. Then all I have to do is pick the best one to enter here.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I bought two pumpkins too lol - never EVER done a pumpkin in my life - not a big thing here in the UK :p
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Damn thats a sweetass prize... I'll try but this week doesn't look good. (You'll know why at the end of the week)

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I have a questions. Are we allowed to retract entries and replace them with a better entry? I will be carving mine today, but I will probably do another within the next week or two, and there is the chance that I'll like my second better. And I assume no voting for ourselves :D.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
There's no extra points for getting in early - why not just wait until closer to the deadline (28th) and then submit the one you like best?
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I have no problems with a person editing their post and replacing the entry with another. You can vote for yourself, although I hope you do because you actually think your pumpkin is the best.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Man you guys better bring your "A" game... I have picked out some awesome designs for this year.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
If I can get my design in before the deadline I'm gonna whoop some butt. Unfortunately our family pumpkin carving is set for the 29th, so we'll see.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Bring it on. You're all going to come in second. I know this because I cheated--I had a helper:
He's making sure the pumpkin is of the highest standards!

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
Its more deadly than a chain saw, and slightly less cool than thermite.
-
Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I'm guessing a dremel or an attachment for a dremel. That or a sawzall. lol

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I went ahead and bought 2 pumpkins and paid for a cool stencil off of a website and get it all carved up and decided I hated it. So I went and bought another pumpkin and found a picture online and made my own stencil and this is what I got.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by D_Stilgar.
I might do another pumpkin, if so, it will be for fun and I'll post it anyways. This turned out alright--part of the tombstone broke off though :(.
I'll get a pic of me with the pumpkin up tomorrow--I left my camera at home.
