Awesome! Congrats on the new job!

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
Hell yeah pizza delivery drivers actually can make pretty damn good money. I knew some drivers when I worked at dominos that would pull in $20 an hour sometimes on tips. course, other times, they wouldn't make ****. lol but yeah, the potential is there. Glad you found another job.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
I worked for Pizza Hut doing delivery for three years. Every six months the Volkswagen needed brake pads and every year it needed new brake rotors. I'm not sure how much I had to change the rear drum brakes, but it was not as often as the front pads. I had to recondition the drums once. The gas station attendants got to know me quite well because the little car only held about eight gallons of gas.
So you can expect to beat the dirt out of your car.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
lol yeah i will do some tune ups i have a back up just in case the manager understands my situation and is more than willing to work around my current job
-
Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
I did delivery for a local place here for a year and a half with my silverado 1500. sucked on gas but I raked in the tips in the winter when the other drivers were going slow in their cars lol

Hah when your system s@#$ a brick
You'll be calling and talking to me.
Matter o' fact i can call that place and boss yall around via a phone.
SXR i need you to reach behind the cash register and replace the RS-232 serial cable for the bump bar.
FYI After opening so many registers and having cock roaches spew out like its a alfred hitchcock movie, I don't eat at pizza hut.
Yea, I've got a can of roach killer on my desk next to the oscilloscope.
lol you can join to
https://wfa.kronostm.com/index.jsp?S...LD=jobCategory
Only true open position is a Level 7, and you gotta know your s@#$ for that. I'm a level III hardware technician.
which is the coolest, cause i only deal with computers, and on the rare chance have to call someone, but even at that point all i deal with is the franchise-e and the manager or something.
Back to my hole in the wall for now.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
If you don't already have one, I recommend a 4 D cell mag light. It can help you see in the dark and it doubles as a club if someone sics their vicious dog on you. Don't ask me how I know...
-
Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
Or a 3D cell LED Maglite. Not quite as much heft, but a heck of a lot brighter (good for blinding...things...before they get to you.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell

its like that on 1:164th scale.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
ewwww  i dread that seriously i cant stand bugs just seeing them ina eating area drives me nuts
-
Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
The one I worked for did not have a big roach/insect problem and we have a lot more insects in the south. We had people who came out and sprayed for bugs. When the crew doesn't clean up like they are supposed to, you have more of a bug problem.
I think you'll need to watch out for dogs and insane customers more than bugs.
Things I liked about the job:
- Tip money - average tip was about $1 per delivery
- Most of the time spent working was by myself in my car - I'm not much of a people person
- The money was pretty good because I averaged about $7 per hour when minimum wage was around $4
Things I hated:
- Hungry, angry, vicious dogs
- Customers who ordered pizza just to eat someone's A out
- Bad tip days
- Dealing with parmesan cheese. and peppers - when you run out of these items, usually cool customers turn into angry ones
- Tearing up my car
Working for Pizza Hut was an all right experience, but I wouldn't want to do it again. It was quite easy to get the job. All I needed was the car, liability insurance, and a clean traffic record. They hired me before I walked out the door. They did tell me that they were going to check the traffic record, but I'm not sure if they ever did.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
Also, don't be too chirpy, I hate chirpy people ;P
-
Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
Advice on getting tips:
- Don't park in their drive way, especially if your car leaks oil
- Some customers are put off by long hair and nose rings
- Be nice even when they get ugly
- Other than that, it is mostly a matter of luck
When I started the job I had a nice looking VW. Then I failed a test in college and my mind was so effected by I that ran a red light and hit another car. I was a poor college student, so I didn't fix it to look nice. I just hammered the sheet metal and replaced parts until it was drivable again.
One of the worst customer I had took a look at my VW, which I had parked in the street in front of his house. He yelled, "You go park that piece of #%& away from my house!" I complied by moving the car and walked a half block to his house. If I ever become super wealthy, I'm going to buy all the houses around him and surround him with old junk cars.
I was always tempted to go back to houses of certain scum customers and do something mean. But once the shift was over, I would remember that I was an adult and just let it go. However, not all of my fellow delivery drivers had the same sense of adult morality. People should remember that when they are dealing with someone who knows exactly where they live.

considering what they do, actually they aren't to expensive
from 800~1,400$ upto a couple thousand for the light weight kind.
I highly doubt you'll ever have a problem though. long as you aren't a asshat towards someone randomly.
We don't have pot holes in oklahoma, We've got Pot craters.

Until someone works in the food industry (including pizza delivery) they just don't understand tipping. I usually start at 20% and knock off for bad/slow service or poorly cooked food. I will add if the service is exceptional. Pays off too. Now when I go into our local Taqueria, the Sangria is waiting at the table nice and strong... They usually also give us freebies. Nothing like toasting the owners birthday from a dusty bottle of homemade tequila. (good thing I am close enought o walk/crawl home...)

I noticed the exact same thing when I did the job. You can't judge a book by the cover just like you can't predict human behavior on looks.

Re: Finally maybe just maybe a little daylight at the end of the tunnell
I worked in Pizza Hut to finance my way through University. I quit for a while and went to work in TGI Fridays as a waiter, which is by a long shot the busiest restaurant in Glasgow. You deal with a lot of meatheads. I got paid well in TGI Fridays, the tips were huge, but the job sucked. Most of the people I was working with were cool, as with the customers, but it was a stressful job.
We once had Scott Harrison, drunk as hell and causing trouble, in the bar. No-one knew what to do, but one guy (who was an ex-bodyguard) was quite happy to throw him out. Never got his chance however, as he wandered out on his own accord a few seconds before the confrontation and was promptly arrested (again). The guy is a complete dick.
****ty jobs are ****ty jobs, just try not to get stuck there like 50% of the people I worked with.
