Have I made a bad move !!!
I was using the program Ultimate Jukebox on an old Dell gx270 desktop as a video jukebox. I decided to make a new video jukebox to hang on the wall so bought a Intel Atom D410 motherboard/processor which is 1.66ghz.
The program im using "Ultimate Jukebox recommends 1000ghz processor. So I thought the atom would be fine, but as soon as I use it it freezes the CPU is running at 100% Ive uninstalled the program many times and it all seems fine , it seems like the atom can not cope with running music videos ?
Internet surfing etc is fine but as soon as i open up the ultimate jukebox it struggles ? many thanks
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
I've used an Atom based netbook for a couple of years now without any problems playing videos. If they're compressed HD video then you might have a problem but regular AVI etc shouldn't be a problem. I assume you have a decent amount of RAM installed?
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
I'm betting RAM is the issue as well. 32 bit or 64 bit OS? I ask because your board can handle 4 gigs of RAM but a 32 bit OS will only see 3.5 gigs of it.
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
Hi im sure its 32 bit os and I have 1gb installed ?
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
You probably want at least 2 GB. More can't hurt.
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
Many thanks I tried it again and it starts well, playing a video , using 25% of cpu then after 10 mins it creeps up to 100% ?
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
Have you updated all of your drivers and software?
Are the music videos stored locally, or on a network share?
What format and size are the video files?
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
Hi I have not updated the drivers its a new Intel Atom D410 and i used the disc that came with the board, the videos are mp4 and approx 10mb and some are avi and are approx 27mb they are all music videos so last around 3 mins each, i have used all the videos on the old Dell pc I had with no problems?
I will look into updating the intel atom drivers etc
All the videos are on a 500gb hard drive which is connected by SATA to the motherboard many thanks
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
I would definitely update drivers.
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
There is absolutely no reason why your hardware can't handle that workload. What operating system are you using?
Re: Have I made a bad move !!!
Hi many thanks everbody, i undated the drivers, used the automatic detection Intel driver program and it told me no drivers could be found ! So downloaded the driver for the graphics and it works like a dream, cpu running at 20-30% many thanks again
