I used the 'heavy duty' ones for a long time, especially on thick steel, but they just burn out so much faster than the fiberglass ones. If you're using fiberglass wheels, it sounds like you're not running the dremel at a high enough speed. In my experience I have found that not only does it take longer to make cuts at lower speeds, but it also burns through cutoff wheels faster. Also, next time you run out, I would highly recommend getting a quick-swap cut-off wheel set; not only does it make your life a lot easier, it also gives you slightly more wheel (larger inner diameter, but also larger outer diameter), and you're less likely to snap a wheel since a) the force is spread out over a larger surface, and b) the wheel has a metal insert in the middle. As a result of this, they last longer and I have yet to break one since I switched (though that might just be because I'm getting better, idk :P ).
