The computer used by the hero was a " IMSAI 8080 " from 1975

This first Personnel Computer is so cool and ugly! I just hade to make one as a casemod for my PC!
So I started manufacture my own with what I got at home. Wood, Plexiglas, Tin, Paint, LEDs, and cables and lots of glue ;)
The size is measured after the original imsai8080.
This is the result
and some worklogg pictures!
Videos showing the "computing lights" :D

Right. That's it. I'm giving up on my 386 project and building a dual cored abacus. :)
That's cool.
This retro thing is picking up a little... Maybe we should have out own forum here?

So you'll like this then.
Edit: I'm looking at that plaster of paris mould, and the pan, and the switch...
Did you cast those in lead?

Re: IMSAI 8080. (Retro replica)
I'm impressed! A quality mod! It would appear that people still aren't ready to let go off the past; me too! I love retro mods, though i probably won't do one myself.

Re: IMSAI 8080. (Retro replica)
Those switches came out excellently, my brother in law does casting of metal and it looks like fun but never tried it myself. You did a great job reproducing the classic too. Nice job!
Re: IMSAI 8080. (Retro replica)
yea...the buttons are a bit unequal. but it was hard to get them in line when the underlaying working switches whas glued to the tin. they all came out a bit different.
Best regards to everyone on this site! :)
