AWESOME! Great job, love the windowed roof as an extension of the side window and the colours go great.
thanks dude. im glad you like it. credits for the top window idea go to a poster on this forum named xris for suggesting the idea
That is really cool! I like how you extended the rays of the sun to the top of the case. It was really well done.
Just minor: Some red covers over the PSU and CD drive to hide the stickers would be nice.
the cdrom i only installed today and i forgot the plate that covers it at home. the psu is brand new so i didnt want to kill the warrentee on it quite yet. i imagine i will paint it red eventually anyways ;-)
thats sick dude, really nice workmanship
This was in the Idea Zone, correct? Anyways, I remember reading about this and I really like how it turned out! Great job! The rays are very cool, how the extend.
thanks guys, i really appreciate your comments. took alot of time and figureing out how to pull that top window thing off and getting it to match up so closely while still haveing a place to attach the side panel to the top so it wasnt falling all over the place. im really glad that you are enjoying it. im also really glad that i put this idea in the idea zone as you said. someone there (name posted in above post) gave me the idea for the wrap arround look and i ran with it. maybe it will give some inspiration to someone on here.
damn. well done
Dude! that's awesomely awesome (especially the windowed roof)
How much you want for that case.
Really nice case mod! Looks real clean...
I was just think not many computers can have white on them and look friggin' sweet ;)
Even though its all been said.. GREAT Job!! The way the window wraps around the top of the case is very creative, and executed perfectly. I think this would definately be magazine quality, maybe do a mouse and a keyboard to go with it, and see if there are any bites. :D
Again GREAT job.
are there seriously magazines for this stuff???
um.. yah. :D

I know there are more .. these are just the ones I have seen in these forums.
hey awesome,
is that big typhoon using a stock fan? if so how did you get it to look so glowwy?
if not, why attach the fan grill sideways?
really really cool
Very very nice. That extended window was the accent that really pulled it together. I was thinking why didnt you make that large, red circle a grill or a fan intake/exhaust hole? It seems so empty having nothing in the circle.
-Cool-
That's a unique mod, bold, yet understated.
It has a refined elegance.
I love it
Really well done-especially the way it all sits together.
Good points: The lighting works well, and the way the top of the case joins the side is almost completely seamless. The paintjob is simple, yet incredibly effective-it compliments the simplicity of the case nicely. That big ass cooling fan looks really cool, a nice centre peice. The cuts are clean and the interious paintjob is flawless.
Bad points: The wiring job still looks a little bit messy in my opinion. The fan under the HD looks really out of place, like it's just sitting there. The PSU looks out of place too, i was thinking it would look really sweet if it were painted white or something.
What's on the left hand side of the case? Anything interesting? And what case did you start with?
Very nice case, hope my critique comes across as just that and not insulting ;)

yep its the big typhoon. cools like crazy. this machine is nicely overclocked and needs the cooling. glowy? well the red paint of the interior and the lighting may be making some kind of visual effect on the fan blades as they are kind of an orange color. yep its the stock fan. is there something you know about this that i dont? are there issues with them failing or something? fan grill sideways??? looks like its on there correctly to me.Quote:

well that bent kind of look was what i was aiming for. doing the top of it like that has its hang ups. the first major one that you have to look at is the ammount of space between your psu and the top of the case. if there is no space then there is no way you can do the whole thing. if there is space you have to make sure you get the right thickness of plex or your going to run into trouble. the seccond thing is figureing out if you want to keep the rails that the side panel usually clips into. in this case i chose not to keep them in tact so they got butchered like everythng else. if you go that route you will need to find an alternate way of seccuring the side panel. i chose strong magnets. at the top of the case they are far enough away that they wont harm the hard drive. just remember not to lay any diskettes on top of your pc after. nothing like redoing your thesis because you magitised the disk all your work was on... the next tricky thing is a little hard to explain but bare with me. there is a little lip where the rail and the part of the top curves downward. you have to bevel your plex so that it will fit in there really well. i used a metal file for this. and the last part is not so bad wich is just putting the case togeather and drawing your design all over it in effect makeing sure its all going to line up because you drew it all at the same time.
once your done doing that you will remember that you should have sanded the paint off first and then drew your design. ha ha.. i have not done this... no really i didnt... ok you got me..
this is bad aise
i ove the coloration wow
sorry, not a super clear message, the typhoon fan is fine, and yes they are awesome, have one myself on one of my systems.
only thing to keep an eye on, is if your house builds up a fair bit of dust (and your system isn't filtered) would be to check that the top of the heatsink isnt blocking up (pulled a thing carpet of dust off of the top of mine after a few months unfiltered side off of the case) even with dust it cools fairly well, but I doubt that would be a big typhoon specific problem.
By sideways I meant that if it wer not a stock fan you would have had a choice as to which angle you reattached it, which if it is a totally stock system you didn't have a choice as to how it was attached.
did I mention I really like this mod :P
glad you guys love it.
for the typhoon. ya my room mate has a cat. this cat does nothing but produce extra hair to shed into my systems. i mean it eats sleeps and rubs off hair thats about it. so ya i think that dust clogging issue is not even a posability for me, its a fact. some times my other systems filters get soooo nasty coverd in stuff.... shudder.. anyhow i do have other fans that i belive will fit over that monster heatsink that acctually seem to displace more air. but they dont have the nice colored blades like the stock one and it seems to be doing a good enough job as it is.
im really impressed by the response to this mod. i never expected that someone would ask me how much i want for it or to get a suggestion that it could be in a magazine. thats crazy. i really appreciate all your comments guys. guess thats what i get for putting it up in the idea zone and getting not only my own creative input but of other modders like you. so i think i would have to say that the coolest feature of this mod was that it was done in part because of this forum, not just as something to do on my own and see if ya like it. there is a real sense of community here and im glad that we all give helpfull suggestions that could make a seemingly normal mod into a great one
That case mod is amazing, very well built aswell just need to tidy up the wiring a bit, awesome job though Cannibal23 keep up the great work. :D
your right of course custom. there is a touch of a wireing mess. its mostly from the power supply really. way too many extra leads. dont really want to give them the chop as i will likely use them in the future. any good tips for hideing them ?

I like it!! it's simple and elegant. Nothing too complicated, and well done!
Yeah, the wires can be cleared up easily, but because of all the light inside you can't even tell.
Great job!
i will see about wrapping them up and stuffing them somewhere else next time i have it open. maybe there is a place behind the psu to stuff some of them. i orrigianly was trying to make it clean but i guess at some point that slipped my mind. the cable for the dvd burner is all under the mobo. you cant really see it at all accept wher it connects to the board and the drive.
for those of you who missed my previous work, it can be viewed here http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/f...light=case+mod
Sweet man. I love the window and how it flows into the roof. Nice job man.
How do you like the Thermaltake Big Typhoon? Is it any good?
Specs?
AMD RULES
thanks for the props on the window. as for the big typhoon. i love it. its huge but i love it. does a very good job as far as im concerned probably the best air cooler that i have used.
well i have decided to go ahead and do what was suggested for this thing and try to make a mouse to match. not sure how that will work out, but i guess i will find out soon enough.
lmao
*kicks*
Nice job man, I really like the continuing window that goes to the top
Nice case,!!
Your Idea is beyond awesome, you win an internet!
