yes, u can.. just browse around the web.. there are plenty of htpcs with renotes that can do that.. and you can do it yourslef too..takes some science and electronics.. but it's doable.. but still, browse around for pc accesories as i'm sure there is something already made.. Tt made a fan controller with a remote control... heck.. i bet there is something out there.. :)
Hehe Bcos i was thinking of putting a neon under my case like my car... the i thought i want a remote 2 turn the pc on ... yet again like my car has the clifford security with the remote 2 turn the engine on!btw by my car i mean my parents im on 15 ^^
Found it! http://www.dansdata.com/jremote.htm
Using an Imon Inside unit like me, you could boot up your computer and control some features more :)
hmm... interesting... made me think for a while.. and heres a way to do this easyly.. for the obsessed one, i mean..
take the permanent +5v source from your psu.. borrow from one usb header's 5V line if u don't wanna void any waranty.. then put somesort of radio sensor of your choice in-line and end this wire with the gate pin of a transistor of your choice.. and splice the power button in parallel with the transistor.. so, when you activate the radio sensor once, you allow voltage to flow to the gate.. therefore you open it :) and ..beep.. push longer and you can even turn it off :) (4 secs, right?) so... you can switch the PC on/off easily and in the most DIY way :) hehe, happy modding :)
The ASUS P5W motherboard has a remote control to turn it on and control your music, wifi, and fans.
Here's a link to it:

I think it's a nice motherboard too and wish I had one...:p
ha wicked something to control the new motors with on my new mod!!!!
@Professors post;
Currently I'm planning to buy one within the week, and I also know that Asus have a AM2 mobo with the same features...
Does anyone know if the Asus remote is IR or RF... Hopeing its IR so I can incorperate the button with the IR reciever I have and use an all-in-one remote, unfortunately I doubt it is :(
You could buy a Logitech ultimate controller, they can control your TV, DVD, anything, and has some controls on the computer too. I dont know if they can make it power up and anything, tho. That should be to look.
Actually i think i might buy a kit... Then mod the remote... ^^ Make it look like a clifford remote :D But i have also seen a remote to turn ur 4 pins on and off.... For use with Cathodes etc... COuld be interesting :D
Is there a way to HIBERNATE the pc with this item? http://www.xoxide.com/remote-12vdc-relay-kit.html
I missed this thread.. There is a pretty good guide on how to do it the diy way on Gideon Tech.

On a side note.. This is the 4th time that someone has asked this same question since March.

and this one..
I know that the older articles seem to drop of the forums after a while, but there is a Search link at the top of the page. Also there is an Archive link at the bottom, that will let you go through and look at the older posts. You can find some really great articles just going through the old posts, I recommend it. Just my 2cents..
On the hibernation question.. you can do that on WinXP with this method, you would just need to go into Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate Tab.. Make sure that "Enable hibernation" is checked. Click apply and then when you go to the Advanced Tab, under the section "When I press the power button on my computer" Hibernate will show up in the drop down.
Hope this helps..
This is an interesting idea; and one I might look into a bit more when I get to the end of my case creation.
