I am new to building/modding computers and I just messed up my first attempt and now need a new cpu but cant spend to much money right now; but I need my comp built in the next month. So yeah someone with spare parts and a cpu please let me know how much. Thanks a lot
Hmm, I have an AMD athalon 64 3400+. It is already in the mobo so it isn't coming out. Do you want an entire PC or just parts? If you want my PC I'll move it to a new case and sell it too you. Either that or you can just buy parts. Tell me if you are interested.
I just need a cpu and maybe a few other parts but I do not really know what these parts are until I get someone to look at my setup because I do not have anything to test what parts are working. Im pretty sure the cpu is fryed so thats all I need as of now.
well, what does that system do/not do. you can most likely trouble shoot it yourself if you know what to look for. what was going on at time of death?
Im super new to this and and just got a case and all my parts etc. When I was finished I went to turn it on and just nothing happened....
That was about 8 months ago and I have been really busy since then but now Im getting back into it and I really need my comp built. After this I want to get into it a little more, but as of now its about as simple as it gets.

I wouldn't start looking at the processor yet..A few things to check first. Make sure the power button is properly seated and on the right pins on the motherboard. Make sure the switch on the psu is in the on position. Lastly, and I know this sounds stupid.. make sure you have the power cord plugged in securely to the wall and the psu. I can't count how many times I put in a new part, and went to turn it back on and forgot to plug it in, or had the power switch in the wrong position.Quote:

Quick note on this;
I am _not_ a noob to pc's by any stretch and I just had a similar problem. Everything was plugged in properly, all connections tight, etc. I even had a couple of our engineers check it just in case I did something wrong. Found out I had plugged the _wrong_ 4 pin power connector into the mobo. I plugged in the one that is supposed to go to the video card. Hooked it up right and it came right on.
One clue for me was that when I initially turned on the power switch and then hit the power, all the fans in the system jerked and stopped. had to remove the power cord and hit the power button to see it happen again. I removed both 4 pin power plugs and the system powered right up.
Well I am a noob lol...Ill double check.
My computer never did anything when i turned it on.
it's definitely not the proc.. There is a power issue somewhere.Quote:

Figured it out...
There was a short in the psu. I got my computer back and was looking at it, it would turn on for only a few seconds and turn off, then we figured it out.
