RAM working together with video card?
So I have my RAM dual channelled in the orange slots on motherboard

Though I also have two black colored slots open

I have an orange PCI Express slot, and a black one. I have my video card in the orange one.

Now, does this mean nothing, or perhaps would the RAM in the orange slots work together with the video card also in an orange slot? Just a thought.
Re: RAM working together with video card?
I'm not quite sure what you're getting at, but I think the orange just designates primary and black secondary. So if running two sticks or RAM and one PCIe card, they should all be in the orange slots.
Re: RAM working together with video card?
I believe that this colors are merely for a theme purpose, if it were tied together than it would definitively advertise it on the box. A lot of motherboard are so colorful now a days, I think it can affect the way a mod looks. Not affect the looks by it being weak or too strong, but with the color scheme of the motherboard.
Re: RAM working together with video card?
It doesnt work along with the GPU, I wish it did though! 1256MB of GFX memory? that'd be sweet!
Re: RAM working together with video card?
Directx 10 will have that feature built-in. System RAM will supplement graphics RAM when necessary. :D
Re: RAM working together with video card?
the color is not to make the mobo colorful. it is implemented to make it easier to designate which slots you use for dual channel mode. of course, it won't matter if you fill up all the memory slots.
Re: RAM working together with video card?
btw, how are you supposed to set up two sticks of dual channel ram? one in black and one in orange or two in orange or two in black? Just making sure.

Two in orange or two in black.
Re: RAM working together with video card?
Most likely it will be in the orange slots. But look in your users manual to be certain, it will usually give you a chart showing where to plug in diff. sizes of RAM modules for different configurations. On my board, dual channel 400MHz use both primary (orange) slots.
Re: RAM working together with video card?
Thanks. I didn't even THINK about looking in the manual... Sorry for that. *>.<

And yet, some of the most useful information is there.
Trust me, I know.
My mobo wouldn't want to work with anything else in my computer for some odd reason then I read the manaul and something was misconfigured haha
Re: RAM working together with video card?
Oh, what would we do without manuals? They're like our common sense... <3 So what were we talking about again?
Re: RAM working together with video card?
the colors designate the group bank at least with ram.
SATA colors are almost always red for bootable black for mass storage.
graphics slots are always what ever color dye they throw in with the plastic.
i dont think they really has a color code.
