Actually i was thinking similar, but for a CS:Source night. I've never player counter strike before and if you have a copy then you will have received a free guest pass sometime in the past month, which i'm willing to hand out if this goes forward. I'msure other folks here are too, and who doesn't have a copy of Half Life 2? Shame on you. :p
I can run a dedicated server on my secondary computer but my upload speed is about 16k average max, while my downloads are about 256k max. (actual speeds here, not the 'labelled speeds'. It's supposed to be 2Meg or something stupid like that.)
Anyway, if my connection is fast enough, a night of CS:Source sounds good, although i'm a complete noob. :p
This is only because i don't have Battlefield.

Hey Dave, I've still got my Guest Pass if you want to have a CS:S night. I also have BF2, but I rarely ever play it, so you probably won't want me on your team :D. I do play CS:S all the time though.

If you have CS:S Valve will have issued you a guest pass to give to a mate. It should appear in your steam list under "1 pass left". I don't know if there's a time constraint on them or anything.
It shouldn't make too much of a difference...you might get a little lag but that's the worst of it. We'll just use it to the best advantage to headshot your Australian ass. :DQuote:

You can get CS:S with a guest pass though. I don't know how the guest passes work, they might be free versions of the full game or they might not be. It may be that if you have Half Life 2 through steam then the guest pass gets you CS:S. And i could be wrong about the whole damn thing. :D

...and no I don't whine about it when I get my ass handed to me... Which happens often... If someone else hosts the game, I will host a chat server. Teamspeak or Ventrillo. << or whatever is the new chat software now...
i suppose i could dust off my steam account to play for the greater good. its been a looooong time since ive played cs. ive been either too busy with school, or playing darwinia.
i definitely cant play any battlefield game. for one thing i dont have any of the games, and for another thing... i get bad connections on there all the time. i borrowed it once, and used it for about a week until i got fed up with dropped connection and lag. i was a good sniper though...
BF2 all the way...seriously, we should do this :banana:
Lol...looks like it's going to be a double night. I'm up for hosting the CS:S game, although i believe there will be others out there with better connections.
You'll also need to find someone to host the BF2 server. I don't have BF2 so i can't do this.

i have a CS:S pass too for anyone who wants it. i vote fore DOD:S though i don't really like counter strike. i do have BF2 but not very good at it. for the passes i think it works like this. you hand it to who ever and they can download and play CS:S (full version) for a week and then they will end up with a discounted price (not sure just a guess) and they can buy it from steam.
I am totally up for a CS:S or Dod:S (preferably dods) night. I just recently fixed my steam and i am just getting back into dods. cs:s i don't play very much at all, but i would definitely like to play a few games with a good group of people, especially people who don't whine about hacks everytime i headshot them. tell me when it is, and i will try as hard as humanly possible to be there.

The guest passes expire on the night of my first exam, the 8th May. So if we're having the CS:S night it better be soon! And we're going to have to sort out time differences too for our American buddies! I'm willing to leave the server on overnight so everyone can have some fun... :D
