my god i can't wait for this game!!!!!!! and i even think my gaming rig will be built just in time for it too! my problems is i need a job to get my rig built but i need time off to play! ohwell i will work something out. i'm 90% sure about this but only vista supports DX10 right?

Crysis is a sick game but no one will be able to play it on their hardware.
Crysis is when I upgrade to DX10 and later SLI. And Vista... Right now all other Vista-only games don't warrant my upgrade (Halo 2 I can get for Xbox, Shadowrun is meh) but Crysis will. And hopefully 8800 cards will have dropped a little in price.
He says right in the interview that if you can play FarCry on high you'll be able to play Crysis on low.Quote:

Hopefully by the time they release Crysis, there will be a patch out for Vista to fix all its bugs. Then I will upgrade just to play this game!
does anyone know when prices are going to drop for 8800's? thats going to be the last thing i buy for my new system. now i'm going out on a limb here but i think this will handle it.

sometimes seem to forget that dx10 cards are the most powerful dx9 cards on the market as well. The game is probably going to max with good fps on a 2gb of ram/ 8800gts 640/ e6600. So all i'm doing is trying to prevent people from wasting money on buying parts to max it thinking they need sli 8800s or a q6600
Also I urge people to remember that this is an fps and is *not* an rpg because alot of people upgraded for oblivion and were happy they did because people and put 1000s of hours into that game and then people also upgraded for fear and they were not as happy because fear although a good game is not worth 1000 dollars to play.
So yes peoples computers can run this the technology is scaled so that it will work on 3 year olny high end computer and it will scale forward 1.5 years.

I'm probably going to get a 8800GTS 320MB, because for starters, I have a tiny CRT monitor that runs 1024x786, and also I have no money :(. Then I'll do SLI, then new monitor, because mine is fine for now.
So lets hope that I can run Crysis on good settings with that.

I have been keeping a very close eye on all of the Crysis media. Im also going to prepare my computer for the godliness:
With the intel Price drop coming up (July 22nd) I'm going to sell my E6700 2.66GHz for $280 and buy a E6850 3.0GHz for $266. The reason the E6700 is more expensive (and can be sold locally for more) is because the price-drop doesn't affect it. In addition to the new proc, Im getting a 8800GTS 640MB once I sell my X1900XTX and some Corsair Dominator 2GB DDR2 1066 RAM after I sell my OCZ 2GB DDR2 800 RAM.
My comp right now could probably run Crysis at Med-High settings @ 1280x720, DX9. With my upgrades Im aiming for High-Full Settings @ 1680x1050 DX10.

I wasn't going to cover everyone in those statements. I glad you loved fear but my point was its an fps and unless your a pro gamer the online play will eventually get boring. Well after seeing that amazon wasn't going to deliver UTIII until 2 months after it's release, I was just like: f$#^ that! So I preordered Crysis! I would've just preordered UTIII somewhere but I gotta spend my $25 gift certificate to amazon. Actually the only reason I didn't want to get Crysis was because I wanted to play it in DX10 the first time. But, now that I'm getting the 8800GTS, Im all for Crysis.
Anyways, I didn't know DiRT was so badly optimized. Do you think they'll ever patch it? If they're anything like Atari w/ Test Drive Unlimited then its hopeless. Even after they patched the game was glitchy and a performance hog.

Damn that game looks awesome. I bet it'd run like crap on my 6800XT, ahh well... if it's for Xbox 360 then it'll be cool to see there. That looks flat out sweet though. What STALKER should almost be when it comes to the weapons (although I haven't played it that much...).
Sorry there only porting it to ps3 but its not gonna be the same game. Completely different the ps3 cant handle crysis as it is.
I have a 6800 too were basically screwed we are at absolute minimum. And I cant even run it on my main monitor 1680x1050
I can run some games at reasonably high graphics like CnC3 at 1280x1024 (my monitor's max rez) but I find that other like Oblivion and Supreme Commander (which is a graphics whore of an RTS, I don't like it much due to that) I have to run at low resolutions, Oblivion is from between 640x480 and 1024x768 on High and SC was like 1024x768 (which is **** for an RTS) on low. I'm probably just gonna build a new rig in a few years with really good components and use this as a backup or something. I most likely won't play Crysis anyway as I don't do too good at FPS games, I just suck at shooting in them due to lack of experience (and I can't because of paranoid parents and stupid court crap that they love to drag on) or something like that.

Ahh well, I guess my neighbor might get it for PC and I'll watch him play it, that's more fun anyway. But yeah, for games I usually have a lower rez, I don't want an FPS at too high of a rez because it's too taxing on the video card, put it on the lowest and work your way up. With RTS it's a different story, the higher it is the better as I can see more of the battlefield making it easier to manage what I'm doing. I'm pretty much happy with what I've got and I'm broke, no job atm and am starting college, better get used to being broke. :neutral:

You can run crysis its just gonna be really low settings I think the estimate lowest card is the 6600 so you can definately play it. Also keep in mind that crysis fully supports dual/quad core processors and will run better if you have one.
So I saw that if you pre-order the game, you get an in-game exclusive unlockable, the NK Amphibious APC. Does anyone have more info relating to this vehicle. Like is it for single or multiplayer?

You mean no co-op for the whole game or for use with that vehicle? I'm pretty sure you mean for the whole game because I don't recall anything about planning a co-op option. But I do know for sure there will be multiplayer. I remember the developers saying that mulitplayer should be interesting because the nano suit powers will be available. I think this was an interview a long ways back on IGN.
yeah i was wondering about that, doesn't the nano suit basically give you invincibility?
ya i meant for the whole game no co-op play. hopefully they do a good job on multiplayer and it should not only be a successful game over all but good a mutliplayer.

These specs are surprisingly low compared to what many of us were expecting, as Crysis certainly contains some jaw-dropping visuals. It is interesting to note, however, that Vista and DirectX 10 are recommended, but a DirectX10 card is not. This may be just because there aren't any on the market yet, but it could also mean all those awesome visuals are just DirectX 9 code...which would mean a substantial bar-raising for other game manufacturers and what they do with the older hardware.
Uh, what? There are many DX10 cards on the market. Every 8*00 series card is DX10, the 2900 series ATI cards are... And either way, if Vista and DX10 were recommended, a DX10 card would have to be recommended too, because you can't put DX10 on a DX9 card.Quote:
