HDD Price Dropping?
Hey guys,
Well i got a question? Why have i seen harddrives drop down in price in the last month or two. A 320gb harddrive was like $130 AUD or somthing a month ago and it went on special for $117 AUD and then went off special and went to $110 AUD and now its only $99 AUD for a 320gb Sata2 heres a link
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/...538f39a546b02a
So anybody know why its dropped so much? Is there a new drive out or somthing because in the last 2 weeks this drive has dropped about $10 AUD not much ey but i believe it may drop ever more. If it gets under $80 i may Have a motive to go into town lol
Thanks for you help.

Re: HDD Price Dropping?
Funny I was just saying elsewhere I bought a 500Gb Samsung drive from a local store for AU$185. Damn cheap!

Re: HDD Price Dropping?
Yeah I noticed that those 320gb drives are pretty cheap now.
It could just be a supply thing or maybe the costs of production have gone down. Or even something is just around the corner. Maybe those drives that have like 4gb flash caches for most used files.

Re: HDD Price Dropping?
Maybe because they released the 1TB drives now, the smaller stuff has come down.

Re: HDD Price Dropping?
The stuff is coming down so manufacturers can push their bigger items. Companies are trying to liquidate their stock to make room for bigger, better and more expensive. 250-320 gb drives are now old hat and extremely cheap.
That and the price of manufacturing has become much less with less platters to deal with.
Soon we will have single platter 500gb drives that will probably cost around 80 dollars, but that will only be once tb drives really make a splash in consumer markets. Give it a year or so.
Good days for hard drives ahead, enjoy them. It's not always so much space is so cheap.

Re: HDD Price Dropping?
Here is another link to the 1TB hard drive. I also saw one on Newegg last week but don't know where it went. I know I am not crazy either because the guy I work with saw it too.
