Ultra 550 X2 good enoughfor quad SLI?
I can't decide on a PSU for my new set up (see signature). I am wondering if the new ultra 550w X2 is good enough to run this set up or do I have to have quad SLI approved, or just SLI approved?
Technically it's just 2x cards I guess, becuase there is only one power connector per card. Am I right to think SLI approved is good enough? I think the requirements were calling for 650W PSU, but i don't want to buy a 1st generation XHD monitor and will not push the cards at all (i'll keep my 19" til' then). SO should the 550w be sufficient until the second generation XHD monitors come out and someone makes a 750w modular PSU that doesn't look like garbage?

If your spending enough money to get quad sli, just send enought o get a quality power supply. I suggest a pc power psu. I think this one would work http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703005
Re: Ultra 550 X2 good enoughfor quad SLI?
Well I am using a 550 WATT Aspire Chameleon. I had a SLI and a CROSSFIRE in there. Worked fine, had no problems. So I can personally suggest a 550 Watt Aspire Chameleon.
Re: Ultra 550 X2 good enoughfor quad SLI?
i would suggest a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W PSU. That's what i'll be getting for my rig. It's reviewed to have very clean power, very quiet and because it's a longer PSU then usual it doesn't output the smell of parts like you normally get when you run your comp for an extended period of time. it's something to do with adding an extra fan and filtering done through that extra space.

I was kinda hoping to get something modular and pretty, but I guess I should get something that works.

If you are really unsure, you can always buy a quad-sli certified psu. Unfortunatley they are all really expensive.
