Hi guys .. Just wonderin' if there's any word from "Make-A-Wish" yet? Did they say how long approx. it would take to find a suitable match for our M@d-SkilZ ? 8)

not yet. waiting for a call from them.
I know this sounds really nasty and all, but wouldn't it be better to sell the pc? Because then, we don't have to build a case around the child, so we could get some better ideas going. Also, it gives us scope to do radical things (like liquid wires :P) that wouldn't be exactly "child-friendly".
I don't mean sell, and keep the money, I mean split it up between more than one charity. IMHO money might be more use to the charity. I personally would like some of the money (if we decided to sell it) to go to a cancer research charity.
Just my $0.02.
I don't know how well that would work. We want to get the most bang for the buck so to speak and I don't know how well the finished pc's would sell vs how much it would mean to a kid who doesn't have the resources to buy a pc.
Yeah, but selling a custom pc, could yield waaaaaaay more than its worth, and make more than one kid happy. Or the money raised could make kids happy who want things of a lesser value than a pc.
You're talking a few thousand dollars at most. Creating an entire package deal for a kid who doesnt have one is more fulfilling. We are not deviating from the plan for this one, I think most would agree we are on a good path for the resources we have.
What if this custom PC doesnt sell?
There's 2 sorts of Charity:
1) Throwing money at a problem and pretending it isn't there
2) Going out there and actually solving a specific problem.
It's one thing to give money to a poor community in Africa to buy food, but it's better to teach them how to farm and give them tools-even though the latter seems like a lesser.
Helping out one kid is preferable to giving money to a Charity-if everyone did things like this, then we wouldn't have Charities as everyone would help out everyone else, instead of throwing money about and pretending the problem isn't there any more.
