New Comp=New Case. Need input?
I'm gradually acquiring parts for a new computer. Since this is going to be a powerhouse of a computer (Intel QUAD core Q6700 and two 8800GTX's) I was thinking of doing a "sleeper," mod. A relatively simple mod that gives no hint as to what's inside, and then the computer grabs you by the genitalia. I haven't really committed to anything, or fleshed out any ideas, so I'm open to input, but here's what I was thinking: Possibly a matte gray or black, and no window in the case, I know *gasp*. LED fans, and possibly lights of some sort in the front bezel of the case to give it a subtle glow. Either that, or something incredibly high-gloss, to give it that "sleek" look. Again, like I've said, I haven't really finalized anything, so any input would be appreciated.

Those parts are very good, but your heat output is probably gonna be high as ever. So you should probably consider putting in a waterblock inside to help cool down the parts, along with the led fans in the back end. As for the paint, I would definitely go with a gloss, maybe flame red gloss paint. Get back to me if you want email me and i can draw you up something...
Re: New Comp=New Case. Need input?
Yeah. Heat is something to consider. I was thinking a decently large fan in the side instead of a window, to maybe suck the hot air out. I'd prefer not to watercool the system, because I'm going to be moving it around a lot(LAN's) and because it's expensive.
Re: New Comp=New Case. Need input?
LMAO, Yeah, thats a good idea, very spy type stuff. But definitely make sure you keep that system cool. Did you buy a closed case? Or are you still in that process ???
Re: New Comp=New Case. Need input?
If you are going to have a window, I suggest having a somewhat tinted one and, when you turn on the internal lights, you'll be able to see what's inside. Uh, Intel Inside. ;)
If you want it sleek, don't put a fan on the side as that kind of ruins the look. You could put a blowhole on top maybe and use 120mm fans for the front and back.

do what squilliam is doing and put it in a mac case (ooo burn)

Yeah. Good point. A blowhole on top would look much better. Does anyone have a recommended case for this? Obviously something with good airflow.

If you can afford the paper, drop some cash on a good ($150 +) Lian Li. They are very good regarding design and cooling. Respected too in the modding/DIY community.

Lian Li's are great. My current PC is in a Lian Li(unmodded unfortunately). I may go with this case. Simple, but a "blank canvas" with which to mod. I appreciate all the input from everyone as well. It's nice to hear some second opinions.
