I don't want Windows to start
So I decided to take a look at what starts up when my computers starts up, and maybe disbale a few things. But I noticed something first. One of the items is named "Microsoft Windows Operating System". That would be a bitch if you managed to turn off Windows from starting from within Windows.
Re: I don't want Windows to start
That would probably not be a good idea...
Unless you like trying to fix stuff like that, or want ro run something other than Windows.
:)
Re: I don't want Windows to start
Even if you unchecked that startup box, you could always get into windows using Last Known Good Configuration from the boot menu ;)
Re: I don't want Windows to start
look it up in regedit to see what its linked to?
hkey-->Local_Machine-->Software-->Microsoft-->Windows-->CUrrentversion-->Run
Re: I don't want Windows to start
Sorry if this is an old bump but I just found this thread.
I'm running Windows XP pro SP2 and the line you have highlighted isn't in my system configuration and my machine runs fine.
I used
C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries\msconfig.exe
to look at my files
What version of windows and what util were you using?
Even if you load to a command prompt only I bet typing "win" would load the GUI
Re: I don't want Windows to start
From the look of the GUI I would guess it's some edition of Windows Vista.
