Samba is for letting windows see linux file system as a network drive... allowing the windows computer to map a drive letter to this location. (basically). worth looking into and setting up......

from what I read, it can act like a setup or stepdown converter...
here is hoping that you don't need that much...

what is your new mobo??? make and model??? I would check for unattended startup... as for the floppy boot, If for some reason you can't tell it to not use it, send it to the last boot option....
