i know i run about 30% fan speed on my 4870 and it is silent. i cant hear it above anything else in my case. you might be okay by just setting the fan low.

yeah i think you might need some new coolant... also check for differences in the metals in your rad and block because sometimes the coolant reacts with each and can cause an issue with corrosion.

there are tabs on the tray that stop the disc from falling out, those drives are just normal ones that are mounted vertical, you could probably find a creative way around the disc slipping.
