I dont think you would need to cut out all the strands, just some of the major body, and use something like EL wire for the strands and to outline the body. could work, but im a noobie here too so...

hmmm, you could try to mount a second fabricated case around the one with all ure stuff, and put all the grills/windows, fans, etc. in this one too, but have this one shake??? i dunno, just spouting...
for the mirror reflector, if u cut a gun in half vertically, so the profile is the same, and mounted it in the middle of the mirror, it would appear that the gun is floating... it should work best...
lol, dont think that you could get much, but try modding other peoples comps for money... plus charge them for the materials! that'd be good and fun, if not especially good time management and not...
I say get the 50 gallon drum, take a sledgehammer, and beat it up a bit, especially on one side... but make sure it still stands, and then make it look rusted with a few holes, with the radioactive...
hmm.. i think what he meant by the extending idea was to actually have the rays extend vertically off the side of the case, so they ended above it. But if you've already started, too late now. OR mod...
I dont have any intention of doing this mod, but as a tribute you could make a case from scratch entirely out of 5.5" floppies.... with bracing of course. Or turn a tower on its side, and paint it...
