It's an NF95. (I think, but I do know there is very little to tinker with in that BIOS. I'll check anyhow.)

I usually shutdown my PC when there's a thunderstorm (well, when it gets closer than about 3/4 miles), and unplug it if there's a lot of lightening.

Still only a single core Athlon64 3500+ here... :( it's not doing too bad tho :)
I'm hoping to get a dual-core lappy over xmas, but we'll see... until then, I'll still use my old reliable (ish)...

IMO, migrating isn't too difficult (relatively...) but I've only ever moved non-vital things and it did take a while...
For me, my server migration was:

dump databases
copy /var/www to new...
