    Re: CPU Temperatures

    Intel Pentium D 830 (3.0 GHz x 2) / 50 C idle / no OC / air cooled -- Tt Big Typhoon + Arctic Silver 5

It would be nice if I had some better case cooling. It gets up to 47 C in there sometimes.

Re: News: Amd calls out intel

Wow, I have a feeling this is going to get dirty, but it won't be Athlon 64 x2vs. Pentiium D. It is supposed to be Opteron x2 vs. Xeon D (if that's what Intel decides to call it). My guess is that...

    Re: Best CPU Heatsink

I just bought one of those big chunks of fanny goodness for my Pentium D since the stock heatsink was crap. Temps are down by 25C, but the thing takes up the entire space between PSU, RAM, exhaust...

    Re: fan ducts

Zeus, that's exactly what I'm looking for, but it's too expensive. Is there a way to do it from scratch?

    fan ducts

I want to run a duct from my CPU fan directly to the rear fan port of my case. I'm using a stock Intel LGA775 cooler (about 2 inches tall) on an ATX motherboard, and my case (also ATX) has an 80mm...

    more fans than connectors

My motherboard has no fan connector for a rear exhaust fan. What is the cheapest way to get the fan to work? Is it possible to splice it into another fan or connect it through molex?

    Re: electroluminescent wire

yeah, I got a little carried away with the advanced editor. It was so shiny.

    Re: What's in a pro's shop?

Another good thing to have if you're going to be cutting sheet metal:
    Throatless beverly shears

Just cut a rough outline with the shears and then grind it down to shape.

    electroluminescent wire

I'm thinking of using EL wire in a case mod I'm working on, but I would like some opinions before I make my final decision.

Has anyone else used EL wire in a mod?
Does it look good? What colors...

    Re: vintage stereo case mod

That transistor thing sounds like a good idea. I'll look into it.

    Re: vintage stereo case mod

OK. I've given this a little more thought. The case (not the stereo) is going to have wood panels bolted on each side with spacers to let air through the side vents (see pictures of case). I will...

    vintage stereo case mod

This is my first case mod. I want to give it a vintage stereo look, like my old Pioneer stereo, with the wood panels and brushed metal.
