I've seen the same thing... when a USB hub was plugged in. And a keyboard. Etc. Make sure you strip it down. Nothing plugged in. No expansion cards, etc.

Just unplugging and holding the power...

Some ISP's offer a certain amount of 'emergency' dial-up hours you can use. You know you're in tough when you call the that number and talk directly to it without the use of a dial-up modem.

Sometimes motherboards or OEM's have bootable diagnostic CD's.

For a potentially bad motherboard, disconnect all drives, pull expansion cards, memory, disconnect kb/mouse/printers/etc.
