    Still here as well!

    What's been up with me?

Company I was with for almost 14 years closed (owner decided to retire and wouldn't sell me the business), so after 9 months off, doing contract work...

Re: Windows 98: the 20th Anniversary

Windows 98 was monumental to me for one reason: Games did not crash nearly as much. You could actually finish levels without a reboot.

It was really funny that it would not work with ISDN...

Re: Ways of Cloning a Drive?

I think it depends on how you use the system.

Check the endurance (drive writes per day) and see if that helps with the decision. Lightly used systems will be ok with the cheaper drives, while...

    AmEv,

PM me your contact details and the model number (if you can find it, otherwise I will go off the picture) and I can send out replacements.
  9. Re: i miss this forum more than i miss most people....

What's ironic is that I now work for Supermicro in the Chassis department... I am actually working on a custom chassis with 12 HDD's and 4 SSD's in a very small footprint... (Filing a design patent...

Re: Trouble With Live Nation's Interactive Map

Wow, I never would have thought Deep Purple was still touring. Probably one of the first ten or so albums I ever bought and I still have it.
When I was in Jr. High School, several of the...

Re: Trouble With Live Nation's Interactive Map

I tried it for a couple of different venues (shoreline and SAP) and it works. Maybe the specific venue map is having issues.

What concert are you trying to book?

    Re: Malware on TBCS?

I access this site from about 5 different computers and have never seen any warnings from avast or other programs. I do not run McAfee, so can't help with that one.

Re: Tech Mergers that You Would Like to See

Well _technically_ Hitachi, HGST (owned by WD), also makes drives and they usually are better than the others. THe reason I say _technically_ is that even though WD owns HGST, they are run as...

Re: Ways of Cloning a Drive?

    clonezilla

I've used it for multiple OS's in a production environment. Can clone single drives or as many computers as you can put on a network all at the same time. Plus it's free.

  23. Re: Is there an advantage to a 4U rack mount case?

If I was building an AV system for my self, I would make sure to add an extra fan (or two since I used 8 drives and a raid controller). I would also use high quality fans with a low db rating. In my...
  24. Re: Is there an advantage to a 4U rack mount case?

In my experience, the only advantage to a large chassis is cooling the components with minimal noise. A 4U chassis allows you to use the larger fans which expel more heat with less noise and effort....
