How about felt? Pretty cheap, pretty heat resistant, can cut it to fit. I know it's used in musical instruments all the time, so it can reduce a lot of vibration. I'm not sure what sort of glue you...

That's rather indicative of a virus. I ran into this the other day with a client's PC. Some pretty nasty trojan/backdoor variant. Spybot S&D will sort out most of it, but you'll probably need to get...
So, I saw a thread a while back about 64 bit OSes but it really didn't answer the questions I have.
Basically, I want to have a less limited quantity of memory on my gaming PC (which is of course...

Hmm. Not exactly a "New Member" but definitely been on hiatus a while. *waves at everybody*
my advice on overclocking is http://www.google.com
the limit on cpu temps is variable. depends on the cpu.
ps -ef|grep <pick a process>
that's how to find a specific process by name
ps -ef displays a longass list of all running processes. and ubuntu does have it :P
msi's not a no-name brand :p they just have historically more server boards than desktop, as i recall.
i believe raytracing is considered physics :P light reflection/refraction etc. damned useful stuff in 3d rendering
i don't have anything written up, and my bluetooth ain't working to get the crappy pictures off my phone at the moment, but i'm keeping notes and will write up a full worklog. just a placeholder atm...
wire nuts are kind of bulky for using in a computer case. soldering here isn't that complex, and you need to learn how to solder if you're going to do any modding. if you're nervous about soldering...
if there's something that linux can run, you can probably make a knoppix disc and run it from that.
i don't know of any specifics offhand, but that's pretty quick booting :p

as i recall, thermal compounds tend to get that way. a bit of wiggling (twist the heatsink back and forth, don't pull up) should get it free after a bit
also, before you reapply new thermal...
pfft. i've seen your mods. case by itself is $350 more. :P if not in parts, definitely in labor
:)
best computer shop around atlanta is GIM computers, near ga tech ... not really east atlanta, but i don't generally head around that way. live near midtown, work in midtown ... no reason to leave my...
your remark is wonderful, dave, considering the thread originator is "isunktheship"
i chuckled. :P
y'know, i don't think i've ever met an actual linux user who talks like that :p i usually reserve that for script kiddies :)
psus just attach to a case. some cases have a little slot for em to slide into, some just screw on.
most trays that i've seen in stock cases are riveted or otherwise permanently attached. you can...
yeah mplayer is supposed to be da bomb. as i recall there's a windows version too, that is better than mediaplayer.
i don't believe a tray is necessary - i think their main purpose is to give the standoffs something to attach to without poking through the case. somebody might want to verify that though. trays also...
as long as people are giving personal preferences, i recommend corsair or kingston. the kingston hyperx ram is bloody amazing stuff, and it has this nifty electric blue heat spreader :p
never used...
