I agree it moves too fast, I think it should got slowly, maybe find some smaller gears, but deffinately looks sweet.

You can't just stick different gears in this thing and make it go slower--it just doesnt work that way--The only solution is to try and ramp down the voltage slightly, and see if the motor still turns the gears--we are not talking about a high torque system here, so it may not work at all.

Guys, it's a blast door... it's supposed to respond quickly!

Maybe it should respond quickly but when i looekd at the video i felt it should go slowe as well it would cause quite a nice effect imo specially if it rose very slowly while uncovering a small video of some dark doom3 video with lots of action.

I was just looking through the worklog again and I saw the HDD rack. I see how it will lock into place but how do you get it out if it needs to be removed again? I might me able to use this technique to solve a problem im having.

A portion of the Martian terrain base is removable--the HDD rack then slides out.

I kinna guess that part. But that little clip thing inside of your base isnt that waht keeps it secured within. If so do you just lif the hd rack over that clip b4 you slide it out?

yeah it gets clipped in and then two screws secure the frame in. To remove the rack, I take out the two screws, push forward slightly to disengage the clip on the front, lift up a little (to prevent the clip from engaging again)and then slide the whole thing out.
