I'm writing up a tut on cable modems (if you use one) incase it might not be the nic, watch for it if you don't get the problem solved.

have you tried popping round to a neighbour's/friends and plugging it into their router to see if that works? Might be worth a try - would show if there is some incompatibility between the modem and the NIC for sure.

i have found in computer communications only one thing is certain: nothing is certain.

doing the above is an easy way to be sure it is down to Lappy's hware sware or setup.

or finding it works !
